Parking fine from UKPC (private company - not local authority!)

I might have missed a very important Legal reference in this topic, but can anyone tell me which Act of Parliament gives a special status to disabled/Parent&brat parking spaces on private land??
They have no status so far as drivers re concerned - ie there is no legislation to prevent anyone parking in them.
However, they must be provided by the person/company responsible for the carpark under the Disability Discrimination Act. They not only need to mark out spaces, but also need to make them available to disabled people. This means that they should take steps to prevent their misuse by non-disabled people.0 -
And which section of the Disability Discrimination Act covers this point??
With specific reference to private land, of course - and not the Schedule III refs to public authorities etc etc .0 -

My 'gran' does have a blue badge. And she does require one. But she does not require a wider space to exit the vehicle, and in the circumstances, can get out of the car in an ordinary space.
How very rude you are. :rotfl:0 -

uktyler is talking about parking in P&C spaces, not disabled spaces.
Do you feel a bitnow?

Its not nice to be accused of having a wheelchair issued by your GP, merely because of your age now is it? How do we know its not the case for you?
Simple....because we are not in a position to judge you. Those rules apply to YOU just as effectively, having a wheelchair is a hindrance, but dont think that gives you a special right to condone others for not having one. One could just as easily sprout that its quicker for you to go downhills on it.........No, it isnt very nice is it
The fact is, particularly in Blue Badge Bay's, if you have a blue badge, your entitled to park there, be that with the ability to walk or not. No Badge=No Parking.
P&C spaces are not Disabled spaces, however nobody would begrudge a Disabled Driver from using one if the Disabled spaces were full, merely because the P&C spaces are not limited to the use of a badge, (more courtesy).
Disabled Blue Badges are ISSUED and not merely handed out to any old charlie, true they can be mis-used, but so can a credit card.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

As disabled bays have no legal basis on private land, why are you lot getting so emotional??0

I think many people are missing the point here ... as the OP said, she was temporarily 'disabled' by a condition relating to her pregnancy at the time and I am sure any reasonable person who knew that would have welcomed her to use the disabled space and even helped her out of the car and back with her shopping.
Come on .. I am sure you know what a long, drawn out process it is to obtain a disabled badge and it is unreasonable to expect her to magically produce one for a condition that is not going to last more that 9 months !

Ok, tell the lady to simply ignore their letters.0 -
IIRC there is talk of fast tracking badges for people who suddenly need one and also allowing them to be issued for short term needs patients[0
