Are you sure you do have a cooling off period?

You get one (14 days) when you switch supplier but not usually when moving between your existing supplier's tariffs.

(Not, of course, that it's clear from your posting whether that's what you've actually done.)

Yes received email this morning advising me of a 14 day cooling off period.

Are all 3 accounts in your name?
Are all 3 accounts registered at the same address?

If so, it's most unusual to have more than one domestic supply meter at the residential address, not least because you will be facing multiple standing charges.
Probably best to get it all going through one meter :)
If renting, you should discuss the issue with your landlord.

yeah all 3 accounts are in my name and registered at the same address. The flats 4 stories and uses to be separate houses but now its just the one.

If i transfer to the dual deal, do you know if its possible to then phone up and get the other two accounts switched to the same deal?

Not sure whether to switch to dual british gas deal and then switch the other two gas accounts to a gas only deal to a diff provider.

How do I switch to the new Eon offer? I don't see it on the MSE switch page which I've been signed up for months...?

    "Next cheapest open-market 1yr fix: Eon £760/yr - £30 cashback, £30/fuel exit fee"
  • Having fulminated about E.ON latest Saver Tariff only being offered to new customers (which is utterly indefensible), I see that MSE Cheap Energy Club's comparison this morning shows my current E.ON V19 tariff is slightly cheaper than the latest MSE Collective with BG (£4 a year!). Certainly not worth paying the £60 exit fee even when offset by £30 cashback.

It was clear months ago that BG and E.ON both exited the price comparison website marketplace and now rely on the collectives marketplace to compete for business. Thus, it seemed strange that E.ON offered its MSE-Collective-beating Saver Tariff only on comparison websites, until I recalled that E.ON are thinking about introducing their own price comparison service - but with a monthly subscription fee! Has E.ON worked out that the pre-registered collective approach will eventually be stopped (not least because cheap 'deals' are effectively hidden from general public gaze), and that there's more profit from receiving occasional switching commission and regular subscription income than from supplying duel-fuel?

If you are already a E.ON customer then it is not available to you.
It is a new customer only tariff.

Can anyone advise me, my last switch was to collective fix Feb 17,
I have just switched to Collective switch Oct 17 and noticed Electricity is more expensive it was 8.45 per KWH now it is 9.30 per KWH I have not had the Gas price yet as I have a cooling off period is it best to stay with my original tariff. Rang BG but did not know anything about Collective tariffs.

Finally found that I will be paying £37 a year more, but with the cash back it will only be £7 and that will be for a further 6 months so I am sticking with BG. Thanks for all your help.
  • Hello everyone!

We've just moved over the weekend to a new property and I want to take advantage of the MSE Energy Switch to get the best possible tariff. The gas supply is with British Gas (we've got a 'To the Occupier" letter from them) and the electricity is with either SSE or ScottishPower (we're not sure yet).

The problem is, the electric meter is a prepay one (with the token)!

I've noticed this while viewing the place and we've obtained permission from the landlord (it's a rental) to replace the meter with a credit type. The question is, can we change the meter and switch supplier in 1 step? If not, how to proceed in order to do it as quickly as possible (make the deadline for the MSE tariff) and not having to pay any unnecessary fees?

Another consideration is, that on our last property the bills were not in neither of our names. I do have a credit history (on the electoral roll in the previous address, have a credit card in regular use and overdraft, had a settled phone contract, no defaults or other nasty stuff etc) but not a utility bill per se. Would that -generally- be a hindrance to changing the meter?

I've never done this process before, so apologies if the questions may sound simplistic.
  • My eon fixed v19 ends 28th Feb. Is it worth waiting till Jan 10 to avoid 60 exit fees?

Eon recently revised monthly to £86/m so I am confused. Suspect its done for this reason?

Would like to get on to BG deal.

    Thanks in advance

  • Here are the details of the EON v19 DD review btw.

"We've reviewed your fixed monthly Direct Debit payment and it's changing from £106.00 to £86.00.
We'll start taking this from 1 October 2016.
How we worked out your new fixed monthly Direct Debit
    - Your current balance is £75.11CR.
    - Add the amount we think you'll use between now and your annual review on 6 March 2017*.
    - The total you need to pay is £620.21. We've split this into monthly payments.
We're expecting your balance to be £0.00 at your next annual review."

I used to think you had to be in a large credit just before winter. The shifting sands of deals and offers. Not so easy to work out.
