After discovering I had run out of sr flour there were lots of posts on dumplings . I'm blaming Pastures New who seemed to have endless different ways of serving dumplings , as the craving got worse I had stop reading the thread . Long story short finally added shopping to yesterdays tasks . Looked in the cupboard earlier and realised I'd forgotten to add flour to the shopping list . Lamb stew minus dumplings anyone ?
Mind you if you have any plain flour and baking powder/ bicarb you could improvise..........

I don't know how prepared you are for the dla to pip process and wouldn't like to tell you things you already know or others have told you . Have you just received the "invitation " or are you already underway with things ? Will be glad to advise you if you wish and will be back later .

It's from a different thread - cooking for one. Although I have an OH we both eat very differently, resulting in cooking for one, for the both of us. Don't know if I explained that well but yeah. I was venting my frustration on there and a member said about this thread. I'd been meaning to read etc anyway so that's how I came to be on this thread.
It's the invitation to PIP. I've been on DLA for years, indefinite award. I have until the 18th of March (17th really as the 18th is a Saturday). OH will call for me. I hate phones. I know very little about the process to be honest. I'm sure I've read about a site that gives you a clue to what you should get. Any help would be welcome thank you in advance.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0 -
Doom and Gloom there is some good online but also some not so good . The major charities are worth a look and I have a list somewhere which I'll look out in the next few days , too much paperwork in files and boxes here but I will track it down .
Over the past couple of dla claims my daughter began to fill her own form in rather than myself . I'd been doing it since she was sixteen as her appointee
The forms differ from DLA as they are assessing conditions from a different angle . This is a bit hard to get used to at first and requires more concentration and thought . As I result it's best in my opinion to do a small section at a time . We downloaded copies of the form and printed them thus daughter and I could use them as a rough template crossings out and all .
I wish I could bullet point like Larumbelle as her posts are clear and easy to read .
When your husband makes the phone call he needs the asked for details ready beside him .
He will be asked why he is calling for you . I assume he is your appointee so he may be lucky . Normal procedure is to ask the claimant to come to the phone . I was asked why my daughter would struggle to agree I could trigger the claim on her behalf and I said she was phone phobic and couldn't communicate with strangers due to extreme anxiety issues . I told them that as both her medical and dwp appointee i was allowed to give the go ahead . That was fine , they asked a few questions and I asked for a home assessment . I was told would be considered .
if you have a good doctor tell them you have started the claim process . Some but not all will help ease your path .
Make a list of all your medication and keep it up to date and remember to include any meds that aren't on repeat .
If the doctor is helpful he will print a list of diagnoses and one of medication .
While you wait for the form - ours came quite quickly is the time to sort your evidence and start thinking of how your illness impacts on your daily life and mood . Compare to people who do not have your pain and daily struggles . It's amazing how our view of normal differs from those who don't struggle . As you'll have read on the thread is not normal but we grow so used to our adaptations we never see how far from reality they are .
Use a notebook or something to jot down anything that comes to mind before you forget it again .
I'll leave it there for tonight but will drip feed as we go and you're welcome to ask any questions you have .
I don't like doing long posts as they can exhaust the reader and become confusing so we'll try and walk this step by step once you have the form and I'll do bite size posts . Stay as calm as you can you have a little army behind you here to travel the journey with you .

One last thing .
I've just found a basic pip guide on Disability Rights uk add pip when you Google . I've had a look through and it quite basic but may help a little for now . Scroll down the page as you have two options of which to read if the date you mentioned is the one dwp expected to have received the claim choose before 15th March if the date was later click the on or after 16th March as some things were updated then .
You can download a free easy read pdf - quite a number of pages but if you bookmark it you can do it in baby steps .
Hope that that helps a little for now .
Caronc if that green light is still on get to bed
Sorry to the posters i meant to reply to today . I don't know if it's the site or firefox but everything is slower than a very slow snail and I keep getting the login message when I'm already logged in and have sent the post .

Bad night last night, OH was fidgiting so I slept in the spare bed.
I feel slightly better this morning, will continue to take the reduced dose of Ramapril until I have taken all the antibs and then may be try putting it up again, if the symptoms persist then bingo...... they have to accept I cannot tolerate a larger dose or find something else.
We were going out for lunch today, its our wedding anniversary on Tuesday was going to take DD2, she has been such a help to us the last few years, she would have enjoyed having a meal out. I cancelled the booking on Friday, glad I did, doubt if I could have sat at the table long enough to eat my lunch.
I have some shoulder of lamb in the freezer, we will have that tonight with all the trimmings, OH will be sorting it once I have done the veggies for him.
Had a call from my Ex last night, our youngest son died 15 months ago, his firm have just got in touch with my Ex regarding his pension through the firm, he could not remember Nicholas's birthdate!! strange. Mind you he could never remember our wedding anniversary either.......tells you something.............I swapped him for an older model, but thats a very long story.0 -
Hello Csarina . Sorry you still aren't feeling too good and had another bad night .
I can't believe it's 15 months since you lost your beloved Nick so suddenly , I imagine the call from your ex was the last thing you need right now . Try to be good to yourself today and I truly hope those meds get sorted soon .
Gentle painfree virtual hug .

Doom and Gloom I've tracked down one of the good clear advice sites .
Benefits and Work UK . More suitable than some as you are in work .Look for PIP DESCRIPTORS AND SCORES. Caps are so you can pick things out easily - not shouting
The important things when reading those things is to remember the following words
RELIABLY.
IN A TIMELY FASHION .
REPEATEDLY.
SAFELY.
This is where looking at how things are for you as opposed to those who do not struggle in life is important . You have the time before returning the form to really consider how things impact on your daily life .
Keeping a daily diary from today as the day goes on can give you an overall view to go from when you complete the form . You can do this in whichever way suits you best .
TRAINING DAYS AND WORK.
There's a lot of stuff you may find useful if you scroll down the page to that section when read the descriptors section .
Sadly it's very dense and closely packed print but well worth reading and either printing or saving . I've concentrated on the first page but there's other stuff there .
IT WILL BE USEFUL AT THIS POINT TO PUT EVERYTHING YOU PRINT , YOUR DAILY NOTES AND ANY DWP PAPERWORK IN A FOLDER , FILE OR BOX .
When something is in progress I use an expanding plastic file with a label on the front as a lot of paperwork comes through the letter box here . As we're old style you may find something you already have suitable . Keep it in one place and you'll be glad of it when you start working on the form .

Afternoon everyone,
I have had a really lazy morning though did manage to wash my hair which always needs a lie down afterwards. Suspect I may have an equally lazy afternoon as the weather is lousy so wheels won't be getting aired today. Do need to change my bed now another task that's requires some focussed co-ordination.
Hugs to anyone that's struggling today xx0 -
Thank you Polly. I'll look through that slowly in the next few days.
Have to admit the bits in bold make me think. I tell myself "oh I can do x, y, z," however OH reminds me that I shouldn't, that it takes me a hell of a lot longer, that it isn't a safe way to do it in reality etc. I'm just obstinate so hate taking help when I should. I even do it at work, doing things I shouldn't. My colleagues, especially my team leaders and supervisors, keep having to remind or step in to keep me from doing things I shouldn't. I swear that recently I'm being told there isn't overtime, when I'm positive that there is, as they are weary about me pushing myself too much!
Doing these assessments etc make you aware of your limitations. I try and not think about them as I used to have a very active lifestyle. Like many it leaves me very upset/down.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0 -
That's why I put them in caps . That is the most important thing to think through . The advice is to look at your days . You will see that pushing yourself isn't good , also payback from doing so , you need to consider what doesn't get done , how many times you try to balance tasks or even having some sort of life even if it's keeping in contact with people and meeting up with any family you may have .
You will began to see the impact as you consider these things . Someone who struggles once or twice a month is a norm . Those who look at every day and see a larger than normal for those who don't struggle cannot complete the descriptors as being able to carry out those tasks and you focus on that fact as few of us can predict how we'll be physically and or mentally in five minutes time let alone tomorrow .
I understand the detail needed on forms is upsetting and digs up stuff better left in the post and or brings you face to face with limitations and loss of the life you expected once .
Others here may not have found it so my dd found the form less intrusive than DLA in terms of spilling your guts - for want of a better expression
Still catching up all
polly
Sorry that should read better left in the past not post !!!It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
