I hadn't heard of this Polly, thanks - will watch it when he's got his horrible soaps on. Snow has stopped now and he is out playing with the snow shovel. I remember what brawn looks like but my mother thankugod never got it.0

Doris is bad enough in the Land of the Concrete Cows; I hope to goodness those of you feeling her full wrath are safely battened down!
I've managed to do some of my online First Aid for Dogs course today, so feeling a bit more productive than yesterday.
In a minute I need to pry Mr LW away from "Conflict: Desert Storm" on the PS2 (yes we still have a PS2) in order to chop some root veggies for dins; I refuse to risk my fingers chopping them myself.;)If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Hello folks. Mind if I join? I know some of you from elsewhere I think. I have hypermobile joints, the arthritis usually associated with those, and a few other problems. What has really rocked my world this week is realising that I have passed the syndrome to my 12 year old son.
If I'm honest he is probably worse than me as he has had constant joint pain for roughly 18 months now - mine didn't appear as pain until I was in my twenties. I was hoping that it was just growing pains, but our dentist confirmed on Monday that he has tooth hypoplasia as well. Dental problems go hand in hand with Ehlors-Danlos Syndrome so it looks like it may be time to take him to the doctors and see if there is suitable pain medication available other then me shoving a paracetamol tablet at him in the mornings.
I manage on an interesting mix of dyhydrocodeine, co-codamol (for daytime as the dyhydrocodeine would make me sleep all day if I took it at the prescribed dosage), ibuprofen when really achy (also asthmatic so shouldn't have it at all really) and sheer bloody mindedness. I also have lots of sit downs between jobs.
I'm a stay at home mum after being widowed 7 years ago. I get a pension from the MOD and as the small person is only 12 I get widowed parents allowance until he leaves school. We can manage on this and I'd get the same if I work or not so it seemed like a good idea to stay home rather than be scraping round looking for holiday cover when he was small.
Oh and only 50% of people with EDS hypermobility type can touch their nose with their tongue so I'm above average rare, ha ha. I must ask the boy if he can do it too......0 -
Good morning Cranky . You're more than welcome . I remember you from the threads . I'm just about to bite the bullet and wash my hair after failing to manage it yesterday . Cranky I've just read your post properly was half awake before . I'm truly sorry to read of your sons diagnosis . I seem to remember him as the house elf - although with my memory I could be mistaken . I hope we can be some support here and help you come to terms with things as much as possible . Also just chatting , letting out our worries and fears and having a laugh or a vent has helped here .
Take care of yourself see you later

Morning everyone,
I've been awake since the early hours - always happens when I step back down the dizzy meds, not helped by knowing my son was getting picked up a 5.30 this morning and wanted to say cherio and give him a hug before he went. Needless to say I'm feeling pretty tired now so no doubt there will be a nap at some point. Weather seems to have settled to if I'm steady enough after showering I might try and air my wheels and get some fresh air as I've not been out since last Sunday. Paperwork all sorted out for tomorrow so just need to set my alarm though no doubt will be awake on and off through tonight as well. Need to get laundry done as I told son to bring home what he had and I want to have it turned round so he can take it back with him next week apart from that I think the housework can wait....0 -
Gorgeous sunny day here and the cat being driven mad by the roar as snow falls off the roof.
Mainly onto the RV's Sky dish lolol0 -
Hey Cranky nice to see you; sorry to hear that the House Elf (or is it House Troll these days as he's nearly a Teen?) also has EDS. Bummer!
Well, we've just had a visit from a prospective new guest - a very large Mastiff/Boxer cross. She is absolutely gorgeous, and made herself right at home during her meet'n'greet visit.
Can't hang around - Mr LW wants to go into town, and he's got his coat on and is pacing now, so I'd better scarper. *rolls eyes*If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Yes he was the house elf but I thought he needed a change of title due to his age so he's the house troll now :rotfl: He's been upstairs playing SIMS vampires most of the day - we had a day out on Wednesday so he needs a couple of rest days to recover from the excitement (and the walking round). Makes a change from making macros/goodness knows what on a role playing site.
I made cakes yesterday and a fruit cake today and dropped them off to a friend who is having a bad time just now. Cake is a universal meal substitute (like toast) and the fruit cake counts as one of your 5 a day as well as containing protein, fat and carbs so all food groups covered right? I tidied up this morning (put rubbish in the outside bin and hoovered upstairs by doing one job then 15 minute sit down, next job then 15 minute......you get the picture). Getting dressed counts as a job these days too. The house troll didn't bother - he's still in his pjs.
I am indeed in the NW and we took a battering yesterday although everything in our garden stayed put as did our roof. A lot of other people seem to be a lot less fortunate though.
LW, my friend that I spent the afternoon with has a very bouncy 11 month old fur person. Lotsa slurps where given to me today0 -
Today was a long pig of a day . Didn't get back until 7pm and am exhausted . I just wanted to let Caronc know I will be thinking of her tomorrow and wishing her well .
Love the House troll for the former House elf .
If I don't get to bed I'll fall asleep in the chair so wishing everyone some rest and see you tomorrow .
Sleep Tight
