Sorry it's so hot there Wednesday . Very wise to keep out of the sun . Do you ever wear skirts ? Maxi and midi skirts are really useful in hot weather . I don't often get Psoriasis outbreaks now , just odd patches now and then . From childhood onwards I used to have the rash in my scalp , on my elbows and all over my legs .
During my teenage and adult years I took to wearing maxi skirts and sometimes midi ones depending on the extent of the rash . I still find them much cooler than leggings or jeans etc especially if they're cotton .
I feel a lot better today , not 100% but not hot and dizzy now . It hasn't been too hot in the past week . We actually had heavy rain last Friday . As predicted it is now warming up but not yet feeling too humid .
Ouch to the corn . Did you wear socks with your boots ? I live in ankle boots in winter but always wear boot socks to stop any rubbing . Thinner sock don't seem to help .
DD had the methotrexate on Saturday so this bug/ virus has hit her hard she rarely has a post mtx experience that doesn't involve feeling rotten for some days afterwards . The answer is to sleep it out as much as possible .
Enjoy your day .

There but for fortune go you and I.0 -
I hope you are both feeling a bit better today Polly?
I don't know what caused the corn as I've never had one before.
The long dresses I have were rubbing against my legs and making them itch more so I wore leggings outside.
Around the house I just wear knee length dresses in this heat.:)
It's meant to go up to 35 here today!:eek:0 -
Mr LW got his letter yesterday, finally.
The consultant has, very sensibly, simply told the GP what he wants them to prescribe, and how much.
Mr LW was popping to the surgery to collect my morphine script anyway today, so he took his copy of the letter with him, and they've said he doesn't have to come and see the GP, they will prescribe according to the consultant's instructions, and he'll get a call when the script is ready to collect.
It's a good thing, but y'know, it's brought it a bit more home that this really is happening to us.
Oh, and I had to Google several of the technical terms the consultant had used, so that I'd understand what he was talking about.
I hope you're all staying hydrated, and managing to keep, if not cool, then not too uncomfortably hot. According to the online weather forecast, the weekend is meant to be a bit cooler, at least around Concrete Cow Country. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Aw LW this must be really hard on you both! The shock and having to get your head round everything must be taking its toll too - make sure you are both looking after yourselves ((hugs))
Polly - the sickness bug sounds awful! I'm still full of cold! I've never known this many people being ill this time of year!!
Wednesday I do that with the GP sometimes as it's so hard to see someone otherwise - glad it's cleared up a bit for you!
Well we have had loads of T&L here and torrential rain - even hailstones today! This weather is crazy! At least the garden got a watering as it's been so dry!
My work situation was looking like it was resolved but then nothing happened since then so I've now decided enough is enough and raised it as a formal grievance! I could do without the stress to be honest but I don't know what else to do!
The kids are fighting loads already and we are only a week into the holidays! I could do without it all really!!
Take care everyone

Good afternoon everyone. We had spectacular thunder & lightening yesterday followed by a wet night and morning. Looks like rain has eased now. I'm so grateful for the cooler temperatures.
Thanks for asking Polly. I've not been well at all recently. All the scans they've done to try to work out what is causing the liver problem have not done so.
Instead a "Dermoid" has been found on an ovary. I was offered the choice of a watching brief (my late OH was in the forces) Or surgery. I opted for the surgery as these things can grow and require more complicated surgery which could be worse as I get older.
Had another MRI scan for the liver. It was the hottest day we had so VERY uncomfortable and I couldn't hold my breath for as long as needed so may have to have another.
So can't say things are going well. But could always be worse. Sorry you've picked up a nasty bug.Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -
ArthriticOldThing - surgery does sound like the best option.xx
I just saw my GP and he thinks the rash is dermatitis. He gave me some steroid cream to try for two weeks.
One of my thyroid results came back too high so I have to have another test to check it in two months.2025 GOALS

AOT gentle (((HUGS))) mate. I agree, have the surgery now, when it'll be less likely to take a really heavy toll on you.
Tink posi-vibes for your formal grievance procedure - sometimes you have to take that route, otherwise people will just walk all over you.
Wednesday I hope the steroid cream sorts you out.
Polly I hope you and DD are well on the way to recovery - I literally felt sick to my stomach reading that someone had coughed and sneezed over you like that. Yuk!! Quite apart from spreading horrible germs, it's just such bad manners, too.
Mr LW still doesn't have his prescription - the GP surgery really do take their sweet time over everything. I think I'm going to have to insist he chases it up; it should have been done by now.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Hi everyone.......
I don't post much on here because tbh I feel so much better these days that I feel like a fraud and that I don't really belong here.
However, I found something out the other day which some of you might find interesting.
But first a bit of background so you know where I'm coming from.
As some of you may know I am a fellow fibro sufferer, with adrenal and thyroid issues as well as arthritis, GERD and IBS.
Unfortunately because of my stomach problems So far I have been unable to take prescription drugs so I have had to look at other ways of managing my symptoms.
Anyway in my quest for more more information I have joined a couple of fibro support groups, and I find I'm learning new stuff all the time.
I've known for a long while that all my ailments are interlinked and they are in some measure all dietary related. It's long and complicated so I won't bore you all. :rotfl:
Anyway I have made a concerted effort to eat healthily, and improve my microbiome (gut bacteria). I now avoid all trigger foods which I know for sure exacerbate my conditions and I take some vitamins and supplements to make sure I am getting all the nutrients, vitamins and minerals I need, including a high strength probiotic. So far my regime is helping me enormously and I feel stronger and healthier than I have done for years.
However the one thing I did find out recently and which may be of interest to some of you, is that apparently fibro can be triggered by a nasty little infection called clampybiactor pylori. It usually comes from chicken and it causes moderate to severe food poisoning.
I know I contracted this from eating suspect chicken. Several years ago I became ill with a fairly nasty bout of food poisoning and the tests came back positive. This was shortly before I started to become symptomatic with fibro. At the time I never made the connection. It simply never occurred to me that there could be a link.
So whilst we know that fibro is linked to IBS and that prolonged stress is also a defining feature it was interesting to find out that stomach bugs and food poisoning can also have a role to play.
I have always had a delicate digestive system. I can guarantee that every time I go on holiday I will develop stomach problems. I've often succumbed to food poising, even when Other people have eaten the same foods. I would be ill, they would be fine.
A few years ago I also became ill after visiting the Caribbean. At the time I was pretty sure that I had contracted a stomach parasite. Helibactor pylori. It is very common in the Caribbean.
My GP was adamant that it was impossible and that I had in fact developed bowel cancer.......When the tests for BC proved negative i again mentioned the possibility of a parasite and asked for the appropriate tests. Once again she refused.
At this point I gave up and began taking control myself, revising my diet, and taking supplements and vitamins, and started taking daily probiotics as well as eating good quality yogurt every day.
The changes have been astonishing. I have learnt since then that our microbiome (gut bacteria) plays such an important role in our stomach health but also our general health and well being. A healthy microbiome is essential for good gut health and a strong immune system.
As well as my dietary/exercise regime I also recently signed up for a course of acupuncture to help my knees (I'll try anything to avoid double knee replacement surgery). At the initial consultation I also mentioned my fibro and the acupuncture doctor assured me he could help with that too. I was sceptical.
I am now about half way through the course, my knees are so much better and I have to say that despite my initial reservations I find even my fibromyalgia is also responding well.
Of course I'm not telling you all to ditch your meds......if they are working for you then all well and good.
However, I just thought maybe my experiences of complimentary therapies might be of value or interest, especially to those of you who might be struggling with unpleasant side effects from your medications.
Mrs LW. So sorry to hear of your husband's diagnosis. That's a bitter blow for you both. I hope you get all the help and support you need.0 -

Interesting. :)I am going to have a course of acupuncture when my rash clears as I have heard it helps.
Cutting out gluten helped my knee pain dramatically, even the knee I thought was sore from knee surgery feels a lot better.2025 GOALS

Wednesday.....hope it goes well for you. Acupuncture has certainly helped me. Be sure to mention your fibro, because they can target that too.
I have needles in both knees and shoulders. My neck, shoulders and upper arms feel tons better.
Not the most pleasant of treatments and I have had a few weird side effects, but they are shiort lived.
More to the point (oh dear, no pun intended) it's definitely working, lol.
I too cut out gluten, in fact all grains....because even rice has me doubled up. I can allow myself a small treat now and then....about 1 bread roll a week without any side effects or maybe a small portion of pasta once in a blue moon, but pizza will have me rolling on the floor.
It sounds very restrictive but once I started to feel better there was no going back. I don't miss grains at all.
It took a long time to work out what was what, a lot of it was trial and error but now I know what I need I just stick with it. I now realise and fully appreciate that "cheating" and eating forbidden foods that make me ill is pointless. I'd rather be healthy. If I eat the wrong foods then I'm only cheating myself out of good health.0
