Hello Polly. No, my flat is not sheltered accommodation unfortunately. I have applied for such housing but been told I don't qualify.
I've seen my consultant rheumatologist and he agree that cannot have the meds until they find out what is causing problems with liver. I've had steroid injections but they don't last very long so its just 'put up or shut up' . With the state of the NHS I'm not expecting anything to move quickly.
The only family I have near my eldest son and his wife and they do what they can but both work full time in demanding jobs. Luckily I have a good friend who accompanies me to hospital appointments etc and helps me with some shopping. Mainly shopping is done online.
Glad your DD got thru all the alerts and that her liver results are now within acceptable limits.
Am thinking about all we spoonies in this heat. I'm lucky in that living on a cliff overlooking the sea I get the benefit of sea breezes.Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -

I do my stint at the library tomorrow afternoon and have waved off dd an hour or so ago.
She left with six big frozen portions of cottage pie, a dozen home made granola bars, a dozen bacon, cheese and onion savoury muffins and about twenty five "Twinks". I also loaded her up with rose lemonade, posh stock cube melts, pasta, chopped tomatoes and tins of creamed mushrooms. We also had a good long chat about recipes that I made years ago that saved me a lot of money as there were few ingredients and they did not cost much.
Hugs to all0 -
Hi everyone!
So sorry to hear everyone is having such a hard time lately! Big hugs to everyone
I've been ok - thinks the tablets are helping and have had some good sleep! DH has put his back out so I've had to look after him which is hard as he usually looks after me!
I've been in my garden a lot - mostly on a night when it's cooler! We have took som huge trees out at the back at the garden looks awful - they were dying so needed to come out but looks so bare now! I really want some raised beds to grow veg in but DH says no - I think we will have to see as I really like the idea of drowning more veg!
I have my fist tomatoe and 4 little chillies in my chilli plant! My beans are climbing and my peas are starting! The sunflowers are struggling and so are the strawberries but I think it's the heat!
We are still struggling with money - we seem to just be going through so much lately - all the bills are paid but we have nothing to save each month? We talked and have decided to try to pull back in August and have a very low spend 6 weeks holiday!
Still quite down and work is hard but hopefully it's going to be resolved by Monday - it's just an exhausting process.
Hugs to everyone

I think we're both still reeling. It kind of rammed it all home when Mr LW went online to declare himself to DVLA. He's still allowed to drive, but the law requires that he notify them.
At least I have little Benji here this weekend - he's just staying overnight, but just having a canine presence for a bit is good.
Uh, oh - I've just been informed that the bedlinen has been stripped, so my attendance is now required as Mr LW doesn't know how to drive the WM.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Hi everyone, lots of hugs and spoons for this very wearying weather and to those who are struggling with health issues.
Tink you are doing so well to have some edibles growing, I really hope that the work situation is sorted for you on Monday.
LW great that you have a furry to stay, even if it is a very short one. Pleased that Mr LW is able to drive, it was one of the first things that concerned me for you both when you mentioned hospital visit and bad news. ETA short stay not short of stature canine:o
Elona it is lovely that your DD will have so much good home cooked food while they adjust to a new little person in their lives.
AOT Here's hoping that you have some results and a plan in place soon.
Polly I hope that it is cooler with you, if not yet, very soon.
Apologies to all for not going back further through the thread, slightly in the wars (only minor), I seem to have strained my weaker shoulder while gardening today and insult to injury burnt middle finger on the wok cooking supper, really odd trying to type with a wrapped up finger. Thank goodness for spell check:D
Had some nice rain for nearing 2 hours yesterday, but nowhere near enough. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Evening everyone!
Thanks Maddie I'm hoping I can go in tomorrow and have this all done and dusted! I just don't need the stress and hassle really - just want to go to work and do my job! Hope your arm and finger feel better!
LW I'm so sorry things are tough right now! Good news about having a doggy stay over tho! The heat is killing me too
I've been in the garden a bit now it's cooler on an evening - still no rain tho! Just trying to tidy things up a bit more. I'm learning a lot and I'm planning for next years crops already and want a raised bed or two at the top of the garden now the trees have gone.
Last week of school for the kids so I'm excited to have the 6 weeks holidays so we can have a big family time together! We have a budget to stick to for the holidays but I'm sure we will be fine.
Me and DH have talked money and have reset our budget so it's going to be a bit tighter but we need to get more structured with the finances or we will end up in trouble! It's just more stress really but it needs to be done. I have uniforms to buy and both kids birthdays soon too as well as a couple of big bills and we haven't had any savings in about 6 months so need to work it better!
Hope everyone has had a nice weekend

Probably need to reply over a few posts . Fingers are not too good at the moment .
Any news on the liver biopsy yet AOT ? I'm pleased you have a friend to go to appts etc with you . Working offspring are usually very busy nowadays keeping up with work and home so it's good to have a friend .
The appts system seems really strained now but it would be helpful if you could at least be given a timescale . When dd was waiting for the calcification to be treated the xray appts came through pretty quickly but waiting for the barbotage to be done meant our GP trying to deal with the situation with first oral then injected steroids .
We've had a few sea breezes on and off over the last few days which do help make a difference . Regarding the housing situation the cuts have impacted so much on suitable housing now . I look at NM over on the Fence and how she is having to struggle to be heard .
Elona I hope you and yours are well . Is that Fentiman's rose lemonade you bought ? I have to say it's kept us hydrated through the heat . It's not cheap but no rubbish in it so worth it . Sometimes Morrison's here have either that or the Dandelion and Burdock and Ginger Beer on offer so I stock up when they do .
Your dd and sil aren't in danger of going hungry with the meals you're stocking them up with . Probably the most useful and thoughtful thing to do for new parents .
Hope the shoulder is improving Maddie and the burn . I no longer feel capable to be in charge of a wok ! My mind wanders too much and I lose concentration at the wrong moment . There's a good reason why I keep a tube of Aloe Vera gel next to the cooker .
How are you Wednesday ? I worked my way through the Matt Haig book and did find some useful bits . I have always kept everything except a lamp and main light clear of the bedroom but although I'm not a great tv watcher usually 3 - 4 hours a week , I've cut it down to Poldark and Casualty when it's on . Trying to minimise screen time seems to help .
I've noticed Cranky has been in running mode so well done to her . Hope the HT is ok and looking forward to the summer break .
I better post this before the gremlins eat it and carry on posting in a little while .

The running hurts my feet and ankles a little but hopefully the benefits outweigh the pain. My knee was hurting a bit (I dropped a motorbike on it when I was 21) but I went to a running supplies shop for a proper gait analysis and explained about hypermobility. The nice man in the shop listened carefully, filmed me running and produced trainers the cost of which made my eyes water but hey presto,my knee has stopped hurting. My leg is still sore in places and numb in others bit the running doesn't make it worse.
Boy Wonder has a diagnosis of hypermobility with severe rotation in his hips and ankles so far (the physio has started at the bottom end and is working his way up). I saw my backside the second time that the doctor said it was growing pains so the doc called the physiotherapist in (did we ever go on the right day, he's only there one afternoon a week). Physio said it wasn't growing pains and asked for blood tests to check for nasties. They were all clear so it's severe hypermobility. The physio also kindly explained the reason why the HT can do rugby but not athletics. The rugby is on flat artificial turf so his ligaments can sort of cope. The athletics is on an uneven field so his super bendy ligaments can't deal with that.
He finishes school tomorrow if he lives that long. He's come in from school hot, tired and sore after the school "good behaviour" trip to the zoo. Some of the school have gone to Blackpool or Alton Towers. I predict very quiet classes for the last day of term.
I feel a bit of a fraud posting here as although the HT is limited by his health issues I am currently more limited by his problems than by mine.
Take care all of you0 -
Cranky love never feel you are a bit of a fraud . You have your own health problems too . I'm glad the physio was available to check on the HT . Sometimes there are magic moments when exactly the right person appears when needed . We've had a few recently one of which is the great physio guy now looking after dd .
I'm wondering how many osers have dropped a bike on their leg over the years . I did it with a beast of a Triumph back in the 60s and have the scar and ache to prove it .
I tend to post more about my dds health than my own but you'll know yourself both impact on the other so post all you like . It doesn't have to be health related . I like to think we're a little band of friends now and day to day chatter and good days have a place here too .
Maybe his lordship will be so tired after the trip he'll fall asleep early . Mention of the zoo reminds me of the school trips which often led to me nominated as the fastest staff member tearing through Chester Zoo and other places trying to grab the naughtiest boy in the year before he caused mayhem . Sadly not fast enough for the daily penguin walk at the zoo .
Take care love , hope you both have some good days during the holiday .

Just had to check who I need to reply to .
Wolfy Re your post earlier on another thread you mentioned low self esteem . There's probably extreme anxiety in there too and if you're like dd some worse case scenarios going on .
All natural and not helped by not knowing the when and the how of things . It's natural to be worried for both yourself and your husband . I am always concerned about the future .
Obviously the diagnosis is worrying you both but although I have a fair idea of what it may be due to similarities in friends and an uncle it's up to you whether it would help to talk about it or not .
No problem either way .
Now I seem to recall mention of two Cavapoos heading your way . When are you expecting them ? At least the weather should be dry for dog walks which always makes life easier provided it's not too hot .
Candle is sending love and light although it's so sunny at the moment it's hard to see the flame .
