Hello everyone and a big welcome to Bertles
Prinzessilein I too am making more and more use of kitchen gadgets (I am a bit of a gadget freak), but they do help as I find it difficult to mix/chop/whisk etc now. I love my soup maker, OH mocked just a tiny bit when I bought it, but he loves the soups it produces. A bonus is that he is "the washer upper" here so don't have to do too much of that. I am thrilled for you about your new hairdo/s.
Bertles I had wondered about replacing one of our kitchen stools with a perch one, but would not help if it was too low:(
Primrose I love the sound of your DIY intruder alert and thanks for reminding me that if we end up with a ban that I can fill to cans from it. Saving lots of water from the house sinks and basins and using that, we have a massively long pipe run from the boiler to the bathrooms and it annoys me greatly, but at least I can use the water in the summer for outside.
Tink sorry about all the works issues, sending you good vibes for being able to compartmentalise stuff and not lettting is spoil your home time.
Polly I hope that you have been able to make up some of the lost sleep, so far not had too many problems:)
I did my hour of strength training with the PT this morning, no get and and go left, but although there are a host of things I would like to get done we have cold things for supper and will just need to water the bits that are struggling later. Tennis to be watched, book to be read to nothing more strenuous:DThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Just popping in to say welcome to Birtles . I had a perching stool which could be height adjusted to be able to do things at worktop height . The only problem was the legs stuck out at at an angle and I was forever tripping over them !
As Prinzess said you can prep things sitting in armchair or somewhere other than the kitchen . If you have a freezer frozen veg is a good buy and you can get bags of mixed veg for stews etc .
Way back near the beginning of the thread are pages of tips to make life a little easier so it's worth having a read of them .
Apologies for not getting back the other day . I did a few phone calls and emails and started to feel sick with a thumping headache .
I've staggered through the last few days with the help of lucozade which I've never been too fond of .
It's just the heat . I've always struggled once it gets hot . Just two appts tomorrow and thankfully it will be the weekend .
I'll hopefully be back here on Saturday . I'm so glad Prinzess that your dream has come true . Make sure you swish that bob as you go , it must have really lifted your spirits .
Tink As usual it's all systems go with you . I remember back when you were sorting what to grow and now you're beginning to see the results of your hard work . I hope the situation at work can be sorted you're doing your best to avoid stress so it's a pity it's happening in the workplace .
Maddie and Primrose very little sleep happening for me at the moment , dds new med is making her sleepy so apart from the odd night she's getting more sleep than she's had in years .
I live in a quiet area in a house but we've had a couple of attempted break ins recently . Police have advised no open windows . I react badly to insect bites and we get lots of bitey things here so the windows stay closed .
There isn't a hint of rain on the way , it's been so humid I was hoping it would trigger a storm but no .
I'm wondering if Wolfy is having one of the Lupus flares . I hope not .
Hope you're ok AOT .

Morning!
Feeling a bit better today but it's been an awful week! Work is horrendous ...
Was at the drs yesterday and have increased my anti depression medication, got some tablets to help me sleep too as I just can't switch off at the moment.
The heat is an absolute litter too for me - it's lovely having the sun shine but it drains me!
Enough doom and gloom - my garden is coming along lovely! Got some big work happening tomorrow so am going to have to move all the plants etc out of the way. We have 5 10ft trees getting cut down so it's going to be a mess outside but at least it will be all done by Monday.
Finding it hard to cook a lot at the moment and shop but it's not too bad. Just hate being down and not managing.
Take care everyone - I'll read back and reply to people soon.

Ok I'm back and feel a bit more human!
Watched the match and it was good we won! I'm hoping for a final next week with England in it! We will see!
That's great news about your wig - my friend has 2 and looks like a different person when she goes from blonde to brown!
I would be wary leaving window open in a downstairs apartment - maybe a standing fan would be better for the warm nights!
Hope everyone else is doing well

Tink pleased that you feel a little better.
Watched some of the football with OH, not a football fan, but pleased for the team and feel it is good for some of the country to have something to celebrate in these uncertain times.
I have run out of things that need no/little cooking so having to buckle down and stick to my meal plan, cooked a bolognaise bake in stages this morning and tonight and popped it into the Remoska, then retreated to watch to tennis while OH steamed the veg which needed using up. Out to lunch to celebrate an 85th birthday tomorrow so no more cooking until Monday:j:j
Hope the timber felling is going well.
Did you manage to sleep any better? The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Too many posts to respond to. Just wanted to say hello to all on here.:A
I can't stand the heat either. We can't leave the windows open at night as we live near a lake and we get so many flying insects! We have been using a fan in our bedroom at night.
I have been up and down the last few months. I realised I can have gluten if it is very pure organic bread, which is such a relief as I missed my toast and sandwiches. I still haven't had a migraine for months now.
One of my pets was very ill and almost died which was very stressful.
She is okay now though but it did make me very anxious and upset for a while.
I have been trying to make time for relaxation, listening to my meditation CD at night, watching comedy shows and the football of course!
I have my 6 month check up blood test coming up in a couple of weeks and I want to see if my cholesterol has come down as it went very high when I was on the two medications last year.
I hope everyone is coping with the heat. It just makes me want to stay indoors.0 -
Hi Everyone!
I feel like I'm butting in here but I think you might me the ones to help me.
Does anyone here use a chair when cooking? I can't stand very long in the kitchen and I miss cooking but all I can find are perching stools, which I feel are too low down, and bar stools which don't seem safe.
Do you have any recommendations?xx
I actually do use bar stools, I bought a pair and have one in the kitchen and one in the bedroom so I can do my make-up (on the rare days I bother) sitting down.
There are a load of different designs though; the ones I have are these:

which have some support for my back so I won't tip off backwards.

Also trying to get my head round some extremely bad news. Will talk later when I've taken it in properly, ok?If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
LW so sorry that you have received bad news, I have been thinking of you and hoping it would not be. Little licks from the furry one.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0
