Snap on the thyroid! Once you get the right dosage of thyroxine that should help quite a bit. I have had several blood clots so am now on a daily dose of medication that resembles warfarin without the need for constant blood tests and diet changes. I have weaned myself off anti Ds after about six months on them so trying to eat sensibly and not get worked up about things.

Don't forget you can make a "wrap" with eggs beaten thinly and cooked in a frying pan then cooled. If you can have bananas they are great frozen and processed into ice cream.

There are a few of us here with fibro and other conditions CC . Are you on any prescribed meds for the fibro ? It's had mixed results here but it has been working well for my youngest .
It's normal with fibro to lose track of what you're reading or even saying sometimes so some support to help with your course could help a lot .
I'll have to give some thought to low carb / high fat foods . I can manage most foods as I seem to have been spared the IBS that often comes with fibro . DD has been vegetarian for many years .
Lesson Learned often posts here and has tried lots of different food plans and Wednesday has too . Glad you're getting the B12 something else some here also need .
I'll have a think about store cupboard stuff first . The less effort the better with food when you have three conditions that drain you and a whole new future to plan . Very wise of you to scale back and pace yourself as much as you can .
Is there scope finance wise to do a little batch cooking which will depend on a freezer and enough energy to do it ? Some days it's a blessing to have something to reheat .

I was wondering about the pulses too Taff . Such a good protein source and vitamins too . I pack lentil soups with loads of different veg to freeze in portions and bean salads are quick and cheap .
I learn something new everyday Elona that wrap idea is a new one for today .

It's good to see you Prtmrose how are things with you ?

I'll have to read your post again Maddie - brain fog !

cornishchick - apologies if you are all genned up with regard to B12 depletion/PA and treatment, but I have copied the following from a post I made on "The Fence" diary yesterday in case it would be helpful to a newly diagnosed poster. Polly - I know that you have seen it:)

    Quote
Another de lurking PA sufferer here, diagnosed 19 years ago, after a few hiccoughs in the early months, folate and then iron dropping badly I was fine on 3 monthly for a number of years. Then started to fall apart and asleep after 6 weeks or so. Eventually GP agreed to 8 weekly injections and I was all set for a fight to keep them when I moved here, but nurse practitioner I saw said that they carry on exactly the same

I started to develop other auto immune conditions and also a Primary Immune Deficiency and went back to feeling cold, fatigued, etc, GP was not forthcoming on more jabs and did not want to rock the boat because they were great with all the new major stuff.

I am now another of those who buy supplies from reputable suppliers in Germany and all the accoutrements from the UK and self inject as I feel I need it (I do sub cut, which is OK'd by the PA Society and I had been trained by the Immunology people to sub cut my weekly infusions of Immunoglobulin).

Most GPs do not seem to be aware that for the B12 to be utilised our bodies need good levels of Folic Acid (just in range is not sufficient), Ferritin too, also foods rich in Potassium at the time of injections, Magnesium too I think. As Mardatha has mentioned PA Society - masses of information and help available there.

Nursemaggie - I do hope that you get your loading doses soon and frequent injections thereafter, the feeling of being freezing cold is horrid and very difficult to overcome, it took quite a while to improve and this year in the heatwave is the first that I have worn short sleeve tops in donkey's years.

I will go back to lurkdom, but continue to smile at all the animal goings on - assuming that there are any left alive, you are a lovely bunch of people. End quote.
The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)

Guess who dozed off after eating . That doesn't happen very often .
Thanks for posting your post from the Fence maddie it could be useful here .
I'm sorry to hear of the Osteoporosis it is very common with some conditions and treatments . At least there on the case and it can be well managed .
You sound pretty positive . Am I right you garden on clay ? it sounds as though a lot of progress has been made in the garden which I remember you were trying to do one bit at a time . The holiday should be a welcome break for you both and it's good to hear your husband is now able to understand you can't be up and doing all the time .
I can't remember if I've posted this before but I printed off copies of " My name is Fibromyalgia " and handed them to various family members and friends to explain why I could no longer be up at the crack of dawn and walk miles all day as I used too . They eventually understood . I imagine there will be similar things on the net for other conditions , The trouble with invisible illnesses is they can't see them .
It must have done you the world of good to make such progress in the garden . You and the dog can relax and enjoy your break while your husband cycles hither and thither . x

CC I don't know if you've got a specific diet sheet or you've devised your plan from trial and error . It sounds very similar to the diabetes diet minus pulses , seeds and nuts .
I canb't remember if you mention fish . I'm not a fan of tinned fish - too much in childhood - but if it isn't on your list it could be a useful addition for protein . I don't know if you're including tomatoes in the tinned veg of the sugar free variety as they're very versatile . I was impressed by Elonas egg wraps as it would be quick and easy to add odds and ends including leftovers as fillings .
Some sort of veg stock cubes or powder would liven things up .
I don't know if you shop online or in the shops but long life or dried milk is a useful standby in bad weather , flares or days when you are low in energy .
I'd find no rice , pasta or bread and flour based food difficult as a lot of my quick options involve them . On a very bad day I often have poached eggs , beans or cheese on toast .
When you have some energy it would be useful to hear exactly which foods you like and whether you have a freezer for times you can do some cooking to stock up for the times you have little energy .
Soups are really handy to have in stock whether tinned or frozen . At least you can have cheese , i couldn't bear life without it .
Anyway you're hopefully resting now so I'll wish you a peaceful night .

Don't forget you can make muffins with beaten eggs, onion, tomato and bacon bits all mixed together, put in a silicone bun tray and baked for 15 or 20 minutes. They make a great snack or light lunch with green veg or pickles.

Oh I like the sound of them Elona . Have you ever thought of writing an OS cookbook ? I've felt tired for so long I seem to be going for quick options . I'll give them a whirl .
I think there's only you , me and Nargle still up . It's very quiet .

My dd bought me an omelette maker a year ago which has been really handy and I lost weight well when using it but making a crustless quiche using a china or glass flan dish in the oven with beaten eggs, onion, bacon, chicken, cheese, peppers or tomatoes etc and baked in the oven for 30 mins makes a great snack or light lunch and gives several portions.

My Mum used to make a winter salad with tinned green beans, drained, quartered tomatoes, thinly sliced cucumber and some white vinegar. Just realised this would be good for a low carb diet.

I'm a great fan of the crustless quiche Elona they're so quick and easy and really filling with salad or veg .
I reckon we were both raised OS . my dad was a chef and until she married my mum was a confectioner and also a good cook . I was kneeling on a chair at the table watching their every move from a very young age and it's only in the last few years I've struggled at times . A combination of dds struggles , my own health worsening and over the past year fighting to put right the mismanagement of dds healthcare pretty well flattened me . Everything is heading in the right direction now and much better than we imagined so when these multiple appointments are over I'll start to pick myself up again while making sure I pace !

Funnily enough I had to teach myself to cook and be OS. Because my Mum was German and a good cook but my Dad wanted plain Scottish cooking we ended up with just a few dishes on the table and she did not have a lot of patience showing me what to do.

I was nearly thirty before I realised roast potatoes did not have to be burnt on the outside and raw in the middle and that rock cakes were not a description of the toughness. I taught myself to cook with books by Jocasta Innes, Shirley Goode etc. I did get brought up knowing how to hand sew and make do and mend.

My Mum raved about my Yorkshire puddings years ago so I wrote down the recipe and gave her lots of tips like a hot tray and oven etc. When I phoned the next week she said she had made them but they turned out like a pancake and on questioned she had cooked it in a frying pan!! I gave up at that point and just concentrated on me , DH and our four DDs.
