Petrol - no means to pay declaration?

Absolutely fuming! Just came back from a petrol station we ALWAYS use, as I have a company car and use a Keyfuels car.
Now the people in the petrol station know me, know I only ever pay with Keyfuels.
Basically just went to put £50 of petrol in, as normal, came to the cash desk and the cashier says "I know you always pay with Keyfuels, but we don't accept them anymore" - SO WHY DID YOU STAND THERE AND WATCH ME FILL UP MY TANK AND NOT COME OUT AND LET ME KNOW BEFORE YOU TURNED THE PUMP ON?????
Anyhow, I've just been made to sign a "Declaration - no means to pay" form, and have 7 days to pay the amount.
I don't have £50 lying around, and am struggling to afford food for my family as it is!?!
More !!!!ed off that they petrol station is still called a "Key Store", and the cashier purposely let me put the £50 in, knowing full well I never pay cash.
Anyone had experience of the declaration?? I am really worried as it says they will call the Police if I don't pay it within 7 days? I physically don't have the money to pay it!!

CC #1 = £0/£200.
OVERDRAFT = £0/£400.
SEALED POT CHALLENGE = £4/£200.

Can't you just put an (urgent) expenses claim into your employer?0

I will try tomorrow, but I am unsure whether they will take the tack "It is your fault":(
Just don't fancy being arrested because some cashier thought it was highly amusing to cost me £50!!!!CC #1 = £0/£200.

if you are using a fuel card is it a company car?
if it is get the company to pay for the fuel, we had it where my mate had an all star card that was declined and later that day the line manager phoned the garage and paid for the fuel with a company credit card0 -
Might the assistant assumed that you knew?
Funny things assumptions, you've made on of your own...0 -

TBF, it isn't something that a cashier would normally anticipate being a problem for most people - you can't expect them to know about your personal financial situation.
Given what you've said on here, I can't see any reason for your company to be unsympathetic or to think it's your fault.0 -

They are welcome to call the police, but the police would not take any action once you had explained the circumstances -- this is a civil matter.0 -
If you can't find 50 quid within 7 days, what are you going to do if you boiler packs up, pick up a speeding ticket or your washing machine bursts into flames?0

Use CC #1. Your sig suggests it has £400 unused which is great by the way and there for precisely situations like this.
Failing that, use a bit of the £400 overdraft.0 -

Doesn't seem a ridiculous assumption, tbh.0 -
Tell the company you work for they need to pay for the fuel for you to continue working. Pass the declaration to pay on to them. What happens when this fuel runs out?0
