What on earth is going on with you?

They clearly showed concern at paying £1200 per person, but yet you suggest a combo that costs in excess of £1500 per person. Friday the 31st isn't a holiday.

C'mon Richie, get it together. ;)

Yes, I'm aware of the concept of bad travel companies. I'll check reviews.

I've played around on momondo, and it seems the key is to go through Shanghai. Trying to stop in Dubai makes the cost huge, while Shanghai gives me a very cheap option. But, only for China Eastern and China Southern airlines give me cheap prices - others are several times the cost. I'll go back and revise the reviews linked to before. However, I did see some scary things there. Shanghai is GMT + 8 which isn't too close to NZ, just.

I'll look into ITA search. At the moment, it isn't giving me good prices. But, I presume that I have to learn how to use it more.

or Beijing, as I have written. China Southern seems to have better reviews than China Eastern.
Personally, the only OTA out of all listed in my screenshots that I would avoid, is OPODO.

    The others are fine.

Always try to recreate the booking direct with the airline before proceeding. If too big a difference, go with the OTA. Otherwise book with the airline so you can take note of the fare conditions before purchase.
Though a quick perusal shows that even if you book direct with the airline, at that fare level the ticket will be non refundable and non changeable.
You would have to go over every sector in order to make sure every sector had flexibility. That would push the price up.
In short, only book if you are sure to go. Because, other than the airline cancelling the route or for an insurable reason, you won't get a refund.

You are lucky to find even that price, as you will be travelling over school holidays and Easter.

Of course we are going on the assumption that you have a British passport.
In this case, make sure that your stopover in Beijing/Shanghai is not more than seventy two hours, otherwise you would need a visa. I'm sure you don't want that hassle.

I as well as every one else, can see that. But the price makes it completely impractical.
What waste the everyone's time because you couldn't be bothered to check before posting?

    There is no price.
Flying multi-sector via the Netherlands and China, including some narrow seat B787 sectors, is uncomfortable and impractical.

Of course there is a price. It's £1541.
Why do you insist on posting this nonsense?
I thought your Asia from £455 thread was a one off, but your strange suggestions keep coming. Not to mention your ridiculous obsession with narrow seat sectors. So your answer to that is to suggest a £1541 per person ticket. Crazy.
My China Eastern flight suggestion from London is on A330-200 all the way. £623 per person. Far more sensible than your ludicrous suggestions.
I just put Birmingham there because it's the closest viable airport for them.
People have to stick to their budgets. Your pie in the sky does not find them a viable flight.

Why don't you come up with a viable combination, without a Dreamliner, at a reasonable price?

That's not in my post. That's based on your wrong assumptions.
My post was about flight timings, there may be similar timings on other airlines with varying fares.
Narrow seat configured aircraft are more uncomfortable.

Wrong assumptions? I used your exact suggestion for the dates over the school holidays and Easter. So where the wrong assumption? Show us a better price then! :)
You edited the dates out of your original post, but they remain in my quoted reply. So don't try to pull the wool over our eyes trying to tell us that you didn't know the dates.. You edited it out, after I pointed out to you that the 31st of March was not a holiday.

Of course it isn't in your post, because you didn't bother to check before making a recommendation. It's £1541 per person for the dates in question, Quite ridiculous.
You also neglected to mention that THAI don't fly that route on Saturday the 1st at all. So that's a day's holiday lost.
As usual, you try to defend the indefensible. It's become a bad habit...and then you ramble on about narrow seats, hoping to distract all from your latest blunder.
Chana Eastern aren't flying a 787 on that route, so make it clear that you refer to China Southern...and you still haven't come up with a viable combination.
You are just spoiling the thread by posting nonsense. really.
