Yep, someone will be waiting at arrivals with your name on a card

My daughter used them last week and they were great

To clarify: the Policy Type is "Collision Damage Waiver", and the first section of cover says: "covers You for any physical loss or damage to the Hire Vehicle for which You are responsible for under the terms of the Hire Agreement following a Fire, Lightning Strike, Explosion, Accident, Accidental Damage,Theft or Attempted Theft, Malicious Damage, Storm and Flood".

My whole issue is not the theory of what RecordGo "should" or "need to" do, but the practicalities of dealing with what they actually do according to former customers - e.g. inventing vehicle damage to justify retention of the excess, or charging customers' credit cards without explanation/warning long after the customer has departed. It's not the rights and wrongs of the situation, just the hassle and stress of rectifying it later.

As you say, I'm better off forgetting RecordGo. I'm leaning towards taking Moto2's suggestion of a 110 Euro round trip taxi ride for the airport, and using local taxis or rental in Cala D'Or if required.

Cannot find that policy anywhere, despite looking intensively.

Wanted to check comparative pricing. From where did you purchase?

Once again...about RecordGo and the like. As I written a few times, it doesn't matter what they do. I don't leave without the car being checked over and a final invoice given. So if they want to make up damage they have to do it on the spot and to give me an invoice. If they refuse and then subsequently deduct an amount without documentation, my CC provider will effect a refund.

For me, all in a day's work. No need to deal with car hire company again once you reach the UK.

For you, quite daunting. So better to leave it if will make you uncomfortable on your hols.

The queues for Goldcar and the like are often very lengthy, that alone would put me off them.
Mind you, I'm not a patient type, I wouldn't stand in some of those queues if they were free :)

Yeah one of the guys I read about waited a total of 3 hours with his family before getting the keys. The whole experience at the desk was pretty unpleasant as well. Oh and it was also noted that the RecordGo staff were not always available to check incoming vehicles for damage, so more delays at a time when you really don't need it.

I bought the insurance from one of the comparison sites - MoneyMaxim or something like that. About £25 for single trip.

To be fair, I only use the majors in Spain. I'm not one to fall for the low headline price. But then I'm liable to make good use of the vehicle, so am happy to pay the extra for peace of mind.

Can only find one InsureFor policy and it's just Excess:

    Cheapest with CDW is Chew

    and that is quite limited.

Not that it matters to you now.
