I dont have time to go back tothe beginning and read through but I seem to remember you saying he was in a car accident.

If he was not to blame and insureances are involved, you could ask to be paid an interim ammount to help you out.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Can't offer any advice but I wanted to wish you well. My husband was hit by a car in January and had 4 months off work recovering. It's not an easy time and I hope you get the help you need.

We have asked twice now once for £7.5k and then after OH had a private medical assessment done by my insurer the second request was increased to £15k to get him some private medical help but the TP insurers are playing us about. My insurer submitted court papers on the 7th July and the court contacted the TP insurer on the 14th July we are now waiting on a hearing but we have no idea how long that will take it is through the county court I believe but my understanding is that courts can take a while :(

I know this is not a thread about discussions about the benefit system, but it breaks my heart to see that people who find themselves in financial difficult times do not get the temporary support they so desperately need to get them back to a position to be autonomous, when those who have no actual need for additional funds get DLA/PIP without such a fight which they end up spending on luxuries.

The system should help people like your OH. I really hope the appeal isn't too much stress and overturns the decision quickly. At least if so, it will be retrospective.

In my opinion that is why people who desperately need help now are having to jump through hoops to get anything.

You have hit the proverbial nail on the head there Fbaby, couldn't have put it better myself.

Now where is that clapping emoticon...

    Agree with you both 100%

This is going to sound cliche but me and OH have both worked since we were 16 paying our way all the time sometimes working 2 jobs and have never asked for help. The way we always understood it was you pay your tax so that there is a system in place to help you should you ever desperately need it.

Now because of years of the system being abused by a few those who need it can't get it and have to fight tooth and nail for what they are entitled to at a time when they should only be thinking about getting better.

Yes he's made a full recovery, luckily. I'm aware it could have been much worse. I hope things get better for you soon.
