OAP is doing pretty good for an old timer... He has early stages kidney failure, not enough to need medication yet but a specialised diet instead - going to be a tad tricky to get him to eat that with the food being down for the other 3 furballs...

Christmas has been meh - I've been battling this cold since the 24th and frankly it's exhausting!

Need to re-do my budget - bit too tired this evening but will be on it in the morning :)

Off to hang another load of washing... because as a mum apparently you still need to sort things like dinner and clothes for people even when you just want to curl up and die quietly under your duvet... thankfully the twit of a cat of mine decided he should come and cuddle in bed for a while which was lovely :)

Hmmm yes, tricky getting cats to eat a specific food at the best of times, not least as they always seem to think that what's in the next dish along is somehow better than what they're being offered!

HNY to you, the OAP and the rest of the household, and good luck getting that cold shifted!

SO again - this is more for my records than to get it picked apart :) I knew the CC had crept up but I also know why and so on so it's nothing I'm worried about. I've added my new income - I've been conservative and applied tax to the minimum amount I think I'll get from it each month. What is NOT in there at the moment is the additional money I get from the OH - so money towards childcare or dribs and drabs like when he has a good win or a bonus at work LOL Last month that was £500 (which in fairness got pretty swallowed up by vet bills etc LOL)
This budget it my control document - and it won't show EVERYTHING - and things that are missing are probably being paid by husbeast :)

I also think one of the debts is lower than it shows, I just can't easily get an up to date statement like I can the credit cards :)

Also I've paid off £300 which won't show on the cards yet... Not major stuff really and hoping to take another chunk off again in a few weeks time :)

And before anyone judges - then the debt actually went up to pay for a very specific print ;) It was about £1750 I think but it's already gone up in value - it's on 0% and it would be easy to "cash it in" should I want to. Likewise pretty much all my debt is actually stoozing - but this year I have decided I want to clear all the debts. Cards will be shut down as they are cleared and by the end of 2017 I'm going to have savings darned it! :rotfl:

If by Sept that doesn't look on target then I will possibly sell one or two of the assets to make sure it does. (We're talking a £5k motorbike, 3 prints worth over £6500 and will increase in value, I could even sell my guns - that's minimum another £1k... And that's before I start on the things we bought "to keep" - there is probably another £4k of prints there if needed be)

    Here's to 2017!!! :)

(oh and the above is probably my "worst case month" - I often have expenses like petrol which which I obviously turn a little profit on AND I have in the main accounted for in the fuel allowance already... Also my base salary should go up by around £150 a month this month or next and I haven't included the husbands contribution to child care which is usually about £100-£200 so getting it all paid back this year is totally do-able!)

  • It must be a relief to have the SOA sorted and knowing where every penny is going. I'm still getting there myself, but have been very good about writing everything down in a spending diary. I'm already shocked at how much over the budget I've been spending on food - it's not even the middle of the month and I've used it up. :o

Misty I think we all know the feeling of over spending - if you do it regularly then definitely do a budget for it and split it in 4 (and a bit... depending on the month) - try to make a game of it!

I can stick to a budget but the husbeast is a sod! Fine ok - it's not actually critical in our case, but I like sticking to a budget so it annoys me :o And I want to be Debt Free darned gummit!

His view is that come bonus time we will be debt free anyway... (He has a guaranteed bonus this year, it was written into his contract when he joined this company that he would get a guaranteed bonus the first year) and the minimum amount would halve my debts and probably more than halve his too (I wouldn't get the same chunk as him, which is fair as it's really his money...) - but I can't even factor money like this in because until it's in my account it doesn't exist.

Anyway - I'm trying to work out how to get debt free sooner and I'm eyeing up my daughters pony...

OK let me re-phrase... We have a half loan in a super insane cute pony... I don't really think my daughter is as in to this as I am :rotfl: I !!!!!!!g adore that moody hormonal little red headed freak of nature - and truth be told she probably likes me better than anyone else at the stable... anyone else and shes been a little git at some point (yep she's thrown my daughter a couple of times too lol) - me... she's like a little flipping lamb, meek as a puppy! :A :D

Buuuuut, daughter is losing interest (might be the chucking off) and there aren't many kids up at the yard her age at the times when we are there. She would still have her lessons on a saturday as they are separate but at the moment we're really not getting up there as much as I think we should be and it's £108 a month... (which is actually silly cheap!) money I could over pay debts with. But I know I'll miss the odd day I get up there snuffling that dumb pain in the posterior pony WHICH I can't even ride :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: ARGH!

May need to discuss this with the husbeast and daughter and see if she actually wants to continue to go up and ride on sundays (which is the only day we ever get up there other than an occasional day during holidays - bah humbug!)

In fairness, being chucked off generally sorts the wheat from the chaff in riding terms - you have to be pretty keen to carry on! :rotfl: Having had a degree of experience on the feisty, yet adorable pony subject myself years ago, I absolutely understand where you're coming from, there's something about them...especially when they clearly adore you in return. (Memories of a certain Bay gelding, with a little star on his forehead, who played up for EVERYONE else at the stables, but was immaculately behaved for me..)

In your situation then I think you have to do the "Worth -v- cost" calculations. If you get sufficient value out of the arrangement on your own level, that DD's waning interest isn't so much of an issue, then all well and good, but if not, then it may be time to give notice on the agreement. :o

Oh I know... it's a longer thinking piece that I need to do about that pesky pony - in my heart I actually know it's not the pony for my daughter - she needs something more confidence building and slightly less independent than this one if I'm totally honest. And probably something stabled with an indoor school so I'm not freezing vital extremities off during the winter and other freezing months of the year :rotfl:

It's just that I love that wee pest of a pony and I'll miss spoiling her *sigh* - will see what the sproglet says - knowing my luck then this week she will be DEVASTATED if we give her up but come sunday she won't want to go to the yard as there is something more interesting to do... GAH!
