What can Information Commissioner do?

I need the format of my home address changing on my credit file with Experian. Can the ICO make them do this?

Have they said why they won't do it on your request?

It's really complicated, basically it's the address format. So they have my address as:

    House name, District, Town, Postcode

The council have me on the electoral roll as:

    Flat name, Street, Town, Postcode.

My house isn't on a road, there is no street name, I live in a house (name no number) on a farm off a track off a road with a number not a name outside a small village 5 miles from the nearest town.

The post office have my address as House name, Village name, Town name, postcode and that works fine.

What's annoying is when displayed on my credit report my address and 'other addresses' (different format same address) is laid out exactly the same one above the per. I know the fields on the system are different though.

Bottom line on my credit file for present address it says 'No electoral roll information available'.

Under other addresses it has this address with electoral roll from 10/15 - present.

I'm so wound up over this, it should be simple, Experian say I can either add a notice of correction which just stops any automatic credit stuff going through without being read by a human, or I can ask the council to change the formatting which I don't think they will do.

I bought maybe they could simply re-entire my address in the same format as the local authority, but they don't like that idea.

Have you checked the formatting with the other 2 CRAs?

If they are showing the same as Experian then I would go back to the council and vice versa.

You can check the other 2 CRAs free with Noddle for Call Credit and Clearscore for Equifax report.

Sorry should have been clear. This is the biggest frustration, on Noddle and Clearscroee I'm showing on the electoral roll at my current address.

It's also impossible to know the formatting they use as I can't see the names of the fields. I'll try and give a fake example, this is how they appear on my Experian report:

    Experian:

House name: Honeysuckle Cottage, District: Littleton, Town: Bigtown, Postcode.

    Council:

Flat name: Honeysuckle Cottage, Street: Littleton, Town: Bigtown, Postcode

So on the sheet of paper the two addresses are identical, it's the names of the fields that vary. As both Noddle and Clearscore have me on the electoral at this address I can only assume they either follow the councils formatting, or correctly realise that the two addresses are the same place so state that I am on the electoral roll.

Can you see how frustrating it is yet! I've honestly gone outside and screamed over this, it is just ridiculous.
