SCS Carpet Fitter Ruins Door - No Response

I didn't know that no Holly.
I opened up a Resolver account after the endorsement on this very website and saw it as a place to keep things in one place (within an app on my mobile)
I have no idea what other redress I can bring other than there is an ombudsman for these matters and there's the small claims court. I'd love to hear whether people think the Ombudsman is in any way worthwhile or indeed if I could/should bring a small claim - particularly on the issue of SCS using a (presumably) independent fitter for the work.0 -
Is its just my camera work?
Seriously no/. That's the bottom of the door.
The first picture is straight on and the middle picture is from the right hand side looking along the door to the left and the bottom one shows the left side across. On the bottom one I took it at an angle to try and show the difference which might be why it looks weird.
No i meant has the door been hung upside down?
Normally the bottom bit of the door is larger than the top bit. Yours looks like it is only a small bit at the bottom of the door. A bit like this.0 -
If he was any good a joinery, he would not be fitting carpets and certainly not for the peanuts SCS allow fitters .
That is butchery job.
Now what is important here is your CONTRACT.
Did you pay for a "fitted carpet" or does your contract state sale of carpet and you have a separate contract with the fitter.
Lets get that sorted first.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -
Sorry - I understand.
I have no idea - when I said a new house I meant new to us rather than brand new. Sorry for any confusion.
The house was built in 2010 - I've no reason to believe they've bodged it0 -

Hi Mark. Verbally we paid for a fitted carpet and that was clear though I appreciate that what is said and what is written are two totally different things.
At this minute in time I will have to find the paperwork (really hoping it hasn't gone missing with all of the work that has been done since moving) to see what's mentioned in there.
It was all standard paperwork but I'd be lying if I said that I know what the content was on this specific point.0 -
They are TROLLING YOU.
Stay on trackI do Contracts, all day every day.0 -
The paper work is key as this is your contract.
Until we know what that says with regards to the service the contracted to you the course of any action is debatable.
If they booked the fitter and he turned up without you knowing anything about them then they are most likely operating as an agent of SCS.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -
Thanks Mark.
They 100% booked the fitter. We had nothing to do with it apart from him calling to say he was on his way on the agreed day that was set with SCS.
I'll try to dig out the paperwork tonight0 -
As a bit of light reading matter, here's the mse thread on the retail ombudsman

And how dean dunhams twitter following " inexplicably" dropped by 2000 in one day

You're 'lucky' the fitter dealt with the door. When we had a floor repair due to flood it was higher than the old floor but the builder said the carpet fitter would adjust the door. Carpet fitter said not his job its the builder. Guess who had to cut the door? At least I made a good job of it!
What's the door like when opened? Maybe it has to have a bit more cut away so as to clear the carpet when fully opened.0
