Tempting as all the suggestions to leave "evidence" around of your (or your cats presence) I'd keep my dignity myself. Just leave that cheque (and the bathplug...) and leave. Way back I got it made plain to me by a Union official during a nationwide dispute - that "We have to remain visibly 'whiter than white' and not give the other side any 'ammunition' against us". That's a lesson worth remembering - and taking account of here I feel.

Dad will turn up today without a doubt - and probably pretty early on at that. Just give him the Ice Maiden "refuse to talk to/refuse to look at/nose straight up in air" treatment and, if you must say something it is "Talk to my solicitor about that" and, if you speak in "Received Pronunciation" NATURALLY - then don't bother to tone your voice down for once.

If he carries on ranting - then you keep on repeating that same message a few more times and then pointedly turn your back and keep right on doing whatever it is you are doing.

WOW, just had a read with my coffee

Good luck OP - sincerely hoping today goes smoothly (although I suspect you are prepared for anything)

Try and rise above the temptation to play any games of your own although clearly any goodwill gestures are not appropriate . I'd stay whiter than white here as they are clearly from Loonsville rather than the real world and you'll still be local.

I'd drop the keys off early doors with the agent so if he does come round mithering you can direct him there to wait for completion to be confirmed.

I think there's more to come sadly but at the least the upper hand and the moral high ground are firmly with OP

At least you'll have a dinner party or new friend story to dine out on for years to come :)

PS One of our sellers took the light bulbs and the loo rolls with them which we only discovered in darkness and while desperate (IYSWIM) - I'm sure there's no obligation to leave such items and although I'd normally consider it mean not to, I wouldn't here.

    It's moving day!!!!
Exciting time for you and for us.
  • How did I manage to miss this thread!

I have read it right through, amazed to see how you have managed to hang on to your sanity as well as your sense of humour.

Once I have wiped the tea off my tablet, I will go and get on with some stuff and come back to see what Twit the Elder and Younger have managed today in their ongoing saga of shenanigans.

Wishing you the best for today, may the force be with you.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • So it's D-day - that's ditheringdaddydaughterdemandingdosh day.
