Delurking to say CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Hope that as I write you're on your way to your new home.Or better yet, moving boxes in!
We had a short gap between leaving our old house and being able to get into the new house and an hour of technical homelessness COMPLETELY freaked me out. :rotfl:
I actually hope the EA keeps you posted on comedy stories of their conversations with Dad. I want to hear about the one where he phones them to say "The electrics aren't right. We don't want the house, thanks." and their response.0 -
Just spent much of my lunch hour reading this thread. Glad there was a happy ending. As of 24/11/2020
Mort: - £98,200
CCds: - £1,568.18
Loan: - £0
Savings: - £3,500.000 -
That's one part of the Completion successfully achieved - congratulations!
I do hope the second part (ie on the house you are buying) has too...
That comment by a poster about 1 hour of being "technically homeless" would have made me feel a bit (a lot!) agh!!!. Maybe my legal executive had a few (not a lot...) of grains of sense/having listened to me when I said - very emphatically - "...and Completion on BOTH houses - ie both old and new - will be done at the EXACT same time to the minute (unspoken subtext being "Or on your head be it")".
Thankfully - when I got the "We have Completed" phonecall from my legal executive whilst I was already halfway down the motorway from England to Wales moving here the answer to my question of "On BOTH houses?" was "Yes".0 -
Wonderful news!! Enjoy your new home :beer:0

I really really hope the electricians report is bad and says the whole system needs replacing urgently..... the dad is appaulling but i have to say the daughter deserves everything she gets, I'm single and a similar age to her - does she have no backbone? I bought my house all by myself (with a survey) all by myself 17 years ago!

Nah! (shakes head doubtfully)
I'd be very surprised if they're as good looking as those two, Rain Shadow, if their looks are about equal to their intellect, wisdom and manners.

What ever happens please do not let this spoil the first day in your new home. You are a bigger and better person. This is now about you and your new life not Sad'o and her Dad.
Good luck and enjoy. Its not everyday that you get a new house so make the most of it and again this is your day so even if anything happens rise above it.
Promise 6 months from now???? all a hazy mess ( hopefully from the gin ??? ( never been my fav but this weather perhaps an optomistic mojito - after all they are good what ever the weather) and all you will remember is how good it was to get the keys. xHappiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0
