Use 079 from mobile to call abroad? Is it genuine??

I have recently used 07978555555 num from my o2 mobile and i haven't charged for this number ,it is included in my free minutes allowance

Having seen this ad on Sky during the T20 world cup, I used this number to call India (although it is not mentioned in the ad), using O2 direct and O2 CPW contract phones.

The O2 CPW contract seems to be including this number in the inclusive minutes :j, while the O2 direct does not :mad: .

Any further clues anybody?

I tried with my O2 contract (directly with O2) upgraded after May 2007 and the call was not included in the inclusive minutes.:rolleyes:

I've also tried a quick 3 minute call with Orange and will find out in the next few days when I get the bill. Fingers crossed, it should be from the free calls allowance.

Anybody has any ideas about the number from the 3, T-Mobile or the Vodafone networks? :huh:

Well dialling any 079 number is usually a mobile phone number so any network offering Xnet minutes, the minutes should come out of it unless this number diverts you to some special number.

Today is 29 september... calling 08 number should be charged 20p pm. So regarding the 079... anyone tested for today?

Sorry, I've just picked up on this one, would someone kindly explain to me what happens when you dial this magic number 07978 555 555?

I have to call France a lot and always have free Xnet minutes left on my O2 monthly allowance so would love to save some money with this routing.

(By the way it's only 28th September here in Buckinghamshire)
