Use 079 from mobile to call abroad? Is it genuine??

Today I saw an ad on one of the Sky TV channels, offering international calls from your mobile if you are on O2 or Orange. Basically you use the free minutes on your contract to call. The number if I remember correctly is 07978 555 555. Has anyone else heard of this deal and does it work??
I thought all the mobile companies had stopped this kind of thing. If this is genuine then I will definitely be using it.

I used this number for a test call of 3 minute from o2, and I can confirm that you are not charged for this number and it came out of your inclusive minutes. It works for direct o2 as well as Carphone warehouse o2 customers. :beer:

Well that wouldnt just be O2, that would be all netowrks as 079 is a mobile number and all Xnet mins packages offer this as part of their inclusive free mins.

I think it should be still free,I wasn't charged in my august bill.The site has changed it's appearance,used to be dialdaily.com but now it's different and the 079 numbers arent listed there.I had madea note of those numbers when the site was different and i have used them on and off.Will have to see whether they are being charged in my september bill

Any one got a destination list for this number? Seems funny to me that there is no mention of destinations and there are no numbers on the actual site, No mention of free calls just cheap calls using 08 numbers.
Maybe people will get a shock when they check their bill sometime soon.

I saw the ad on sky too and used the number from my orange contract to call Canada and Pakistan,
I am not sure if the calls are costing or coming off my minutes.
Can someone confirm, i would also like the find their website.

If you take a look at their website you'll see they use 0844 aswell. So from 28th sept these won't be in the including minutes of O2 anymore.

Most mobile phone tariffs let you check your bill online. So register for online billing tehn you can see whether or nto you are paying for these calls.
