Unless there is a restrictive covenant on your estate prohibiting ball games on private property you can do nothing as they are making a quiet noise at a reasonable time of day.

How can they continue playing without the ball making a sound?

I am also planning to gather the opinion of other neighbour who stay nearby as alone I might not be a winner as this nuisance neighbour is surrounded by many properties

If you really think you can afford a solicitor to take this through court, I suggest you put the money to better use and buy a house somewhere far away from anyone else. Perhaps in a vacuum?

Playing basketball at those times will never be considered a nuisance unless they were throwing the ball at your windows.

If I were them, Id be tempted to.

Will your child not be allowed to play in the garden? I would have thought someone with a baby would be able to deal with the quiet noise of a ball.
