Noise nuisance from the neighbour

I would like to complain about our neighbour who are playing basket ball games every evening from 7:00pm till 8:00pm

It is the noise of the ball banging on the floor which is giving me migraine
I tried to close the doors and windows in hot summer season but the noise is constantly causing vibration to our new built property.

Yesterday after three weeks of suffering due to this noise I went and told the neighbour who has been playing, but they told me it is their property and they will continue playing. They also told me that call
The police as they are not scared of the law and order.

This ball game is played by adults

it is affecting our peace and health.
We are not able to enjoy our house environment as have to close all the doors and windows due to this noise

please could someone from the MSE forum advise me what to do about this noise
I am also going to inform the council

Unless balls games are specifically probibited on private land on the estate I doubt there is much you can do as it is being played early and it wont be a loud sound

I would be fairly worried if a bouncing ball was creating detectable vibrations in a house.
  • At 8pm at night, no one is going to care

They also have the right to enjoy their property

If you don't like neighbours and the noise they bring, buy a detached

    Literally nothing you can do.

It's their home and at reasonable hours. If you want quiet but a detached property.

You aren't getting much sympathy here but I do know how annoying a basketball can be. All above are saying buy a detached, but for all we know you may have one. This won't solve it anyway.
I used to live on a new build estate and when the basketball came out I really heard the thud thud on the ground.
What could I do about it? Nothing. All the kids were doing it so it would have been me verses all the neighbours.

I do stay in a detach property

My peace is lost with this noise.

    Thanks Mickygg
Yes it is a thu thu noise
I will try to fight back with this noise issue and can afford a solicitor to take this neighbour to court.
As I have informed the police and have recorded the noise
    I am gathering evidence

People are allowed to play basketball between 7-8 on their own property.

You'll get nowhere in court. Can you imagine it? Banning someone from playing a game in the early evening?

But not at the expense of others getting disturbed with their basket ball noise
    I don't agree

If my peace is getting disturbed than I do have a right to fight back
I will not suffer in silence

I do agree that people have right to enjoy their home but no right to disturb others

    Good luck with that

Noise doesn't become a nuisance until it it continuous or at unsociable hours- ie after 10pm

A family enjoying their land, their family time, is not a nuisance in the eyes of the law, even though it's bugging you

Will you come back and update us all with how you get on with the police and solicitors and perhaps court?

Will be interesting to see if and how you get it stopped
