Well, it's not.0 -
As little as gets the perfect ring - could be next to nothing if it's the right one :-) mine was "cheap" compared to what many would expect but stretched my OH at the time and is perfect - I would never have wanted him to get in debt or waste money we could spend on our future!Officially Mrs B as of March 2013
TTC since Apr 2015, baby B born March 20170 -
The most, probably £10k.0

I spent around £160 for an engagement ring. The Mrs got to choose the ring and as were both MSE shop savvies we opted to keep the price down so as to afford a little extra for the honeymoon.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Mine cost ~£220. OH was prepared to put a 1 in front of that, which would still be less than a month's salary, but that's the one he liked the most. And I agreed with him - he knew me well enough to know I wouldn't want a big diamond.Excuse any mis-spelt replies, there's probably a cat sat on the keyboard0

I spent ~ £1,800 on my wife's engagement ring, which was about a month's salary.
We found the exact ring with the quality of diamond she wanted and the exact style she wanted.
This was just over 6 years ago now, we're about to have our 6th anniversary and the ring is valued at over £3,000 now.0 -
my partner loves his bikes (and road bikes) so if the moment comes I will hint that it has to be at least within the price range of his latest road bike which is £3500 before all the fancy gadgets. Am I evil I don't think it's too out of order?0

It used to be a month's salary and then when they found that people had fallen for that they increased it to 2 months' salary!0 -
Mine cost £3,500. I really love it, the design is quite different to your bog standard but that was definitely the top whack limit. My OH is in a well-paid job and I'll have it forever, so it was a real treat for me and I really cherish it.0
