Barclaycard eligibility checker problem

Hi all, I'm new here on MSE and registered to try and get some advice.
The eligibility calculator on MSE gave me a 95% chance of approval with Barclaycard, but when I used Barclaycard's own eligibility checker it couldn't match my details against any of their records, and said that I'm either not on the electoral roll or my details are wrong.
I'm on the electoral roll, which I confirmed by calling the city council, and all the details are the same as I entered on the MSE calculator and other eligibility calculators which had no problem. I called Barclaycard to see if they have any input as to why the system can't match my details but they couldn't help. They told me to try again later. That was about 3 weeks ago and I'm still getting the same message.
Anyone else had this issue and still applied?

You say you called the city council....how long have you been on the ER?
The councils don't always pass on the information to the CRAs very quickly.
Address formatting can also be a problem especially if you live in a flat....eg flat 1, 2 House st, will sometimes get recorded as 1A, 2 House st etc etc
Have you checked your CR?
You can do this via Noddle for Call Credit, Clearscore for Equifax, meaning you only have to pay £2 for your statutory report from Experian if you've already used up their free trial.
Be mindful too that eligibility checkers are not guaranteed acceptance.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. Thanks for the quick reply.
I've been living at my house for 8 years and when I called the council I asked if I was on the open register, which I am. Not sure if that makes any difference.
I got my CR from equifax. It's only "fair", and shows my repayments to be "poor". I have a 5 year loan that I'm paying off and this year it'll be finished. About 3-4 years ago I missed a couple of instalments on it.
I don't really need a credit card. I just want to improve my CR. Do you think it'll improve my chances if I wait until the loan is paid off?
Have there been applicants with 95% chance on the eligibility calculator who's application was declined?0 -
Yes.
I tried Barclaycard eligibility checker at night at weekend using full name as appears on electoral roll. Could not find me.
Tried again midweek using only the first of my given names and surname. It found me.
Hope this helps.
I was given 95% chance for all the platinum cards and the Freedom rewards. I was given 80% chance for Barclaycard Initial.
Did not apply to Barclaycard in the end but applied for comparable platinum BT card elsewhere and accepted no problems.0 -
I only have one given name so that won't work for me0

When it doesn't find you, I'm sure there's an option to force a full application through anyway (it'll probably refer though).
If you want to apply, and trust a 95% check (if it couldn't find you, it should be 0) then just go for it IMO.0 -
If you are on the electoral roll, there probably something wrong with your electoral roll entry on your credit report at Experian, have them fix it and pay for the inconvenience if so.
My wife had the opposite problem, she couldn't get any results at all on the MSE checker, but Barclays worked. Anyway, Experian kept insisting she wasn't on the electoral roll, even though she was. Turned out in the end they had done something wrong with her electoral roll entry on her credit report. Took them a while to fix it (6-8 weeks), but a couple of weeks after that it was working.0 -
Have you been able to find your CRs with all three CRAs?
Have a look for any discrepancies in the information or the formatting of your name/address etc.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards.
