Was going to mention this as they're not the biggest in the back, but you've already covered it.
I have an A1 and love it. Enjoy your new car.0 -
Of course it is. But a Leon shows how much more of a car can be bought with similar money.
You are aware it will be an ex hire car too?
Many of the same components, maybe even the same factory.

I still wager that an A1 will be short on space.
Will be nice to get a new car though so enjoy.
Sorry, Loskie, but how can you be sure that it is an ex hire car?0 -

As long as your prepared to pay the full price then go and look. If not stick with the cheaper 2013 plate car.parking_question_chap wrote: »Thats an insane amount of money for a hatchback. So much badge going on with A1s.0 -

Age, mileage plus Motorpoint the seller.
It may not be an issue but the dealer should at least be honest about it.
V5 may not show a recognisable hire co name many use other holding company names.
Many A1s are hired to fleets and driving schools at minimal costs to boost registrations and give a ready supply of used cars.
Just look at airport hire places to see the range of cars on offer. It is irrelevant if they are supposed premium brands or not.

Shouldnt be a problem. Where do you think nearly new(ish) cars come from? Look at the upsurge in private and co leases from 1 to 3 years.
I have an Astra Elite this year on lease for 15000m/1 year. I would not be surprised if that doesnt end up at somewhere like Motorpoint. I will look after it as if my own so could well be a good buy.0 -
Age, mileage plus Motorpoint the seller.£13,999 sounds like a Motorpoint price? Is it Motorpoint / Car Supermarket or a regular dealer?alipops1986 wrote: »It's a local, regular dealer.
It's not Motor point, and I'm not sure why 8k miles on a 2 year old car would suggest it's an ex-hire car.0 -
I dont read my post. Many people think it is though and are oddly horrified when they find out. Strangely when they are called ex management though they are ok about it.
I looked at a few nearly new A3's at Carlisle Audi and they were all ex hire.Well presented, no visual issues but it worked out cheaper for me to lease new.0 -

OP isn't buying from Motorpoint.
And is going for the low mileage one with under 10k on the clock in two years.
It is very likely a lot of used cars are "ex hire" because if somebody has a vehicle on a 1 or 2 year Contract Hire it is by definition a Hirw Car?
Which Hire Co rent out Audi A1? Seems an odd choice for a daily rental fleet as they are expensive.
There is a branch of Europcar near City Airport and I pass their CarPark most days and have never seen an A1 parked.
I wouldn't have a major issue with buying an ex Contract Hire vehicle if it had only one owner. I would want to avoid ex Estate Agent vehicles though as they will have multiple drivers and also I would want the price to reflect an ex daily hire vehicle as it will have had loads of drivers and will have been hammered by some of them.0 -
The HRV that's not much bigger than a Jazz and has a smaller boot than a civic hatch? I'm not having a go, if the OP wants an A1 then that's her business, all I am saying is that to me it seems like 2 small cars to own with 1, and it sounds like soon to be 2 children - speaking from experience.
48 weeks of the year my civic and my wife's Jazz have been fine for us and 1 child - like the A1 and HRV will be, but for the holidays we've took (always in uk) the civic has been full with half of back seats folded down and a large roofbox. when second child comes we'd be screwed, hence buying a bigger car...
If you're thinking CRV then i would agree that should be plenty big enough...
A jazz is our only car, when we go to centre parcs we have two child seats in the back, one electric wheelchair in the boot and suitcase, sons feed bags under the back seat and a holdall containing any clothing we couldn't fit in our main suitcase.0 -

I thought most hire car places kept them for about 15k miles or 6 months, whichever happens first, so I'd be surprised if an 8k/2 year car would be a hire car. A lease perhaps, but not a rental.
At 76 miles/week it must have spent a lot of time sitting about for a rental company.0
