Dear All,
I've been after an Audi A1 5Dr Sportback Diesel for a while. Finally decided to take the plunge and investigate further.
Originally, I went to look at 2013 versions with 20-25k miles as these were in the right price bracket. One in particular was £12495, with 24k miles - they offered me £3500 for my current car (Kia Venga, 2010, 59k miles) which I was quite happy with.
However, i've now come across 2014 Audi A1, same spec, exactly the same car to the one above (even down to the colour!) but 8k miles for £13999. Baring in mind, i'm pretty much ready to go with finance etc and the dealer of this car is 55 mins away - is it worth a phone call to a) see if it's still available b) to explain i'm ready to go, explain the previous deal i've been offered and see if there's room for negotiation before I make the trip with a toddler? Really, I 'd like to get it for £13000 max, but could stretch to £13500 if forced. I would obv test drive the car before finalising everything, but I know this is the car I want and that it'll suit my needs.
Thanks in advance,

16k miles is nothing. If your going to travel an hour then they know your keen and may not drop it a penny.
As long as your prepared to pay the full price then go and look. If not stick with the cheaper 2013 plate car.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
the boot's tiny can toddlers stuff fit in it?
You could get a far better car for that money.0 -

Absolutely. I wouldnt make a journey like that without ringing ahead first.
£13,999 sounds like a Motorpoint price? Is it Motorpoint / Car Supermarket or a regular dealer?
If its Motorpoint or a Car Supermarket they almost never discount and they usually add money on for an "admin fee"0 -

Thats an insane amount of money for a hatchback. So much badge going on with A1s.0 -
A great alternative choice would be a SEAT Leon. I am sure if the badges were substituted for Audi ones the OP would not notice.
For that money you would get a nearly new example.
What price a badge?0 -
The seat Leon is ugly.
Op wants an Audi, not a seat and not whatever else you think he can get cheaper0 -

A lot of money for a hatchback? Didn't realise cars was priced on this. Saloons must be cheap cars and estates top of the range then.0 -

It's a local, regular dealer.
However, I have found a 2015 plate, with just over 7k miles at a motorpoint - but it's about 90 mins away - at the same price of £13999. I'm going to hopefully use this to get negotiate a bit of ££ off the local dealer.0 -
OP - Definitely worth asking and going to have a look. Worst case scenario is you have lost a couple of hours and £20 on fuel but will also know you have gone for the right car.
As to suggestions that 13k is too much to spend consider residuals and if your happy with the cost then crack on. Enjoy your new car.0 -
