  • A poster called Alipops who wants an A1 is unlikely to be a he I suspect.;)

Indeed, I am indeed a she! haha
  • Just wanted to update and thank you all for your advice.

Phoned up dealer 55 mins away, car still available. Popped to view it and test drive it - it's in very good condition, clearly well looked over and one previous owner. Started negotiations, he basically wanted 11k and my Venga. Managed to get him down to 10.5k and my Venga - so really, i've paid 1k more than the one I looked at yesterday for a newer version, with 16k less miles. I'm happy with that!

I have done my research - have managed to physically fit 2 car seats in the back (thinking ahead, currently have one 2 year old!) and if I take out the parcel shelf pushchair/pram fits no problem. Granted, won't be able to fit my 6ft4 husband in as well but if we go out as a family we'd go in his Honda HR-V.

    Thanks again everyone,
    Alipops x

A great alternative choice would be a SEAT Leon?

Surely the VAG equivalent car to an Audi A1 would be a Polo or Seat Ibiza?
I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world

good luck with your dealer discounting the car

I have just tried to do a deal with a main dealer and the sum total of the discount offered was zero, i told the salesman we were close but not quite close enough and the best they could do was a couple of quid extra for the trade in but no reduction on the screen price

I have seen this at car supermarkets having bought three cars from motorpoint in the past but looks like the dealer wasn't in a hurry to sell the car i looked at and decided to hold out for somebody offering the screen price

I'm guessing you either holiday abroad or pack REALLY well. Due to constantly being short of space for 3 of us in a 5 door civic when going away we're looking at galaxy or s-max ahead of child number 2

Why quote a post if you're going to completely ignore part of it.

I'm pretty sure they'll be ok in their HRV!
  • Agreed with forgotmyna, 16k miles is nothing. If your going to travel an hour then they know your keen and may not drop it a penny.

Keep reading the thread and you will see the OP has done a deal

The HRV that's not much bigger than a Jazz and has a smaller boot than a civic hatch? I'm not having a go, if the OP wants an A1 then that's her business, all I am saying is that to me it seems like 2 small cars to own with 1, and it sounds like soon to be 2 children - speaking from experience.
48 weeks of the year my civic and my wife's Jazz have been fine for us and 1 child - like the A1 and HRV will be, but for the holidays we've took (always in uk) the civic has been full with half of back seats folded down and a large roofbox. when second child comes we'd be screwed, hence buying a bigger car...

If you're thinking CRV then i would agree that should be plenty big enough...

Of course it is. But a Leon shows how much more of a car can be bought with similar money.
You are aware it will be an ex hire car too?
Many of the same components, maybe even the same factory.

I still wager that an A1 will be short on space.
Will be nice to get a new car though so enjoy.
