General question about arrears and repair

Options
Hi All,

Just after some advice, I've cleared nearly all of my debts now bar about £250 which I'll pay off on payday. 4 accounts were in arrears and DF. Another was a CCJ which after 6 years has gone now.

So my question is with no more arrears and all my debts settled or partially settled, I have a catalog with a limit of £100 a credit card vanquis and a mobile phone contract.

My goal is to get a mortgage current score is around 450 I think (Noddle) is there anything else I can do to improve my score and file?

I'm on the electoral role, when the DF's are settled will there be a noticable difference on my score?

thanks!

Congrats on almost being debt free.

Take little notice of your score - this is only how Noddle view you and they don't offer mortgages.

Check your other credit reports with Clearscore for Equifax and order your statutory report from Experian for £2, make sure all the data is accurate, that is what lenders see.

The further in the past the blemishes are the less of a negative impact they will have.

There's no magic wand though and it will take time.

Use your credit card regularly for things you would buy anyway such as fuel if you drive or groceries and set up a direct debit to pay in full each month.

Nobody can tell you what impacts on your score as it is a randomly generated number. Ignore it.

You credit history is what potential lenders are interested in. The older the poor history is the less the negative impact it will have on how you are viewed. If you carry on running you finances responsibly you will be fine although, to get the best mortgage deals, you will want most of the late payments / defaults to be either off your record or close to being so.
