Does anyone want to join me waiting to find a house to buy?

We put in an offer on a house on Saturday and I am sitting nervously waiting for the phone to ring to hear back on that one. There doesn't seem to be much coming on the market at the moment which is a bit worrying.
My rightmove search covers a 3 mile radius, 285 houses, only 107 are available as others SSTC or under offer. 6 of the 10 most recent houses are reductions rather than new listings. Not even bothered viewing a property in months now0 -
Got four lined up to see on Sunday (relocating so have to cram as much into a trip as poss!). One in our first choice area thats just come to the market this week, looks good from pics so feeling excited! The other 3 are in a compleyely different search area, in fact different town although only 20 mins or so away.
Got a bit of a head heart dilemma. The intention was to move back to our home town where we both grew up and all DH family still there and quite a few friends too but market is so slow and we're very specific about the parts we'll live in so its a fairly narrow search. We've just recently looked a bit further afield to where my parents now live. There are some gorgeous houses and the whole area is nice, no dodgy bits at all. Good schools, easy motorway access for commuting and only 20 mins on an A road to our original area... BUT its not home, and the plan was to go home.
Decisions decisions. Feel like my head will explode. :eek:0 -
How does anyone have time to view houses whilst working full time?? Feels like a sad thing to spend annual leave on but think its going to come to that soon0

Good news - our offer was finally accepted yesterday. Been EA with Id today and mortgage appointment in the morning. House is empty so no chain which is good.Henry Pootle (aka Piglet)

We've missed out on another
The one in our preferred area we were meant to see on Sunday sold today, vendor cancelled all further viewings. Offer was apparently under asking but chain free buyer. Feeling deflated. Again!0 -
Pumpkim we are also relocating a good distance. I ended up having to drop everything and travel down midweek to look at the house we're buying as I knew it wouldn't hang around for very long. Our offer was accepted before my OH had even seen it. Is there anyway you can do the same thing and somebody just go and see it on their own if necessary to stop the same thing happening to you again?Make £2025 in 2025

Slinky, I'm going to have to I think. It's school hols soon and I'm off work so it will be easier to do then. With the one we've just missed I was the first to get booked in for a viewing, I literally rang the second the text alert pinged from the agent, before they'd even done any particulars so didn't have a clue what it was like inside but knew it was location and house type we want, but because that was Monday and we can't get there til Sunday it was futile.0

My suggestion to you is go and have a good look from the outside when you're down there on Sunday, perhaps even be cheeky and knock on the door (fortune favours the brave). With a third of sales falling through this one could come back on the market, you may get a second bite it. We had that very thing happen - a bun fight and bidding war on one house, 3 weeks later the highest bidder got cold feet and pulled out. We were offered it as second highest bidders and accepted, only to find out when I got home (I'd been out at the time the EA rang) that another (better) house 4 doors along had come up for sale. I tried offering over the phone for that but they wouldn't take my offer, so I dropped everything to drive down there the following day and look. There'd already been an offer on this second one by the time I got there. We outbid them and another one in the end, but it was another bunfight.
It sounds as though the area you want is popular, you're going to have to be exceptionally quick, or lucky, or both to get to the front of the queue.Make £2025 in 2025

I've actually put an ad on the local facebook page and got a fair bit of interest, unfortunately lots that weren't suitable for us but an old school friend contacted me about her father in laws house which is promising, He's asked her to pass his number to me, so I'm going to contact him today to see what his timescales are for moving and the all important question, what sale price he's hoping to achieve for his house!0
