What on earth are you doing? You're turning this into a right old mess.

Stop wasting time with endless emails, log into DPS, request your deposit in full and let the landlady argue with them.

If what you've said about the condition is true, she won't be able to claim anything and you'll get your full deposit back. Stop trying to confuse matters with emotions and what you feel is morally right. She knows she's not entitled to betterment and is trying it on. She is running a business and her aim is to maximise gain.

You need to help yourself before you are taken as a mug.

well she has already given us a reference before we moved to the new place, i was happy to be reasonable about it all but she's decided to take the mick. I can't lose over £450 just so that she has me in her good books.

https://www.carpetright.co.uk/carpets/auckland-berber-loop-pile-plain-carpet this is the carpet that is already there, it looks just like this and it's wool. It's not expensive - any idea on the life of such a carpet (berber wool, loop type) i know nowt about carpets!

That carpet is not suitable for stairs in the first place.
    It's nothing , not nothink.
  • Just want to say that the more and more you write to someone, the more ammunition you are giving them, and the more likely you are to shoot yourself in the foot by saying something stupid in writing (like agreeing to contribute to a nice shiny new carpet). Stop talking, stop writing.

You may think you are being nice, but nice gets you nothing but massive bills that you shouldn't be paying.

she's moaning about that i've requested the full amount back lol she doesn't even seem to know how the DPS website works, so this will be fun. I hope she has the sense to ring them up rather than do nothing
