  • I was in the branch the next day and they were still selling two boxes out of date (also took a picture to moan about it to my sister

So correct me if i read this wrong.......rather than moan to Sainsbury's you moaned to your sister. You choose to leave these 2 pkts on the shelf rather than raise the matter with the in store customer service desk? kind of defeats the whole point of this thread you really can't be that concerned..............end of the day you got your money back and no children got hurt :)

That's exactly right, I only took a picture of them and left... made sure my sister wouldn't buy them then I was all good lol :A

Obviously as I got a refund I was in store and had a snoop while there to see if somehow it was just a random packet I was unlucky enough to buy.

And yes they were advised but not before a had a good moan to my sister, next time I'll prob just stick to that and a bit of a google so no need to worry that I will 'troll' or, god forbid, ask advice.

Wow thrilled everyone assumes this is about compensation. Not the fact Sainsbury is selling medicine this far out of date. Would you be happy giving these to kids or your grandparents? It's surely more a case of safety and peace of mind. I wouldn't expect to buy medicine so far out of date from such a large supermarket and find it that extremelly worrying. Was more looking to find out the best place to report it. And to dispose of it I will be returning directly to the source for a refund and they can then find a way to dispose of them, let's hope it's not back in the stock rotation eh.

Actually I purposely keep some out of date medicine to put onto my son (I have checked with the pharmacy and they confirmed that all that happens is it gets weaker over time - just what I need as I don't like using steroid cream on his face).

I do see your concern it must be worrying to buy out of date medicine if you don't know what happens to it, but all it does is get weaker so it would be fine to take, just not as effective. There are much more dangerous out of date things a supermarket could sell.

    Condoms :)
  • i bought 12 packs of hayfever tablets when they were on a very cheap offer about 3 years ago. have 5 packets left and they have expired. will continue using them - as others have said worse case scenario is they do nothing and currently they are still working effectively

What a wonderful place MSE Martin has created here
No wonder he's all but given up with this site in favour of other media outlets such as TV, radio and even Twitter. :(
Martin isn't some sort of religious leader, he's a journalist (a very successful journalist), this isn't a church, it's a public internet forum, anyone can post. Stop being so naive.
