I know, it is silly, but that is just the way it works in many schools.

I still don't know why they decided to go from Leicester to the Dorset coast! for what was basically 3 days watersports, and 2 days of 6+ hours on a coach.
    Anyway

Were they in Poole? I've windsurfed there on a course and it's fab for learning and kids because it's so shallow and sheltered for so far out.

I do agree though that it's ridiculous no one is able to message what time they will be back...then again I went on school trips before email and mobiles were a thing and somehow our parents managed.

Your energy and enthusiasm amazes me, it encouraged me to get a wardrobe off a local selling site, replace the temp fabric one that had been in the spare room for....2yrs :o

Wooo hooo! get you Kerri gt and your new to you furniture! They were somewhere near Brixham/Dartmouth/Paignton

I was the kid whose parents never bothered to come and pick them up from school trips, and had to convince the teacher that it was fine, they did this all the time, they were just completely unreliable and I would be fine catching a bus home.
It started when I was 7 (well, that was the first time I can still remember) and not being picked up from tube stations after brownies trips and camps, and they were still not picking me up from foreign exchange trips at 15.
I still cannot understand how they could do that to a kid. They had different priorities.

I got to school late at 6.10 and they turned up around 6.35. He is burnt to a crisp from Tuesday, is peeling and sore, is ranting about how awful the food was, and the tents, and that he has a new appreciation for my cooking. So, there you go.

He came home, happily made up his bed with fresh laundry ( I had stripped and aired his bed within 30 minutes of his departure) and scampered off to his bedroom and his beloved xbox. grrrr.

I am off for a nice bath and an early night with a book, and a blissful night with the radio on while I sleep (it disturbs DH) Even after 20 years I miss sleeping with the radio on - isn't it funny?

The kitchen is a total mess, but it will still be a total mess in the morning, so I shall not worry, it will wait for me.

Kitchen much less of a mess

Uncovered the fireplace in the living room, started at 10 finished at 5, all rubble bagged up and ready for the morning tip run. Arm sore as I only had a 'normal' hammer not a sledge, and I would have been terrified of boshing off too much if I had one. Would be much less worried now I have actually done it once. Would happily do it again.
Elbow is bl00dy sore though. Bangers Elbow? to go with Strippers shoulder!

Bathed and hair washed to get rid of the thousand megatonnes of dust, DS3 was great, really helpful and he got his hands on a hammer, which he loved.

Have hoovered and damp dusted twice, so will leave it until tomorrow morning now for the dust to settle again. I put the cast iron fireplace into the hole and it fits perfectly and the surround looks great too. Yay me!

And all before the clock strikes midnight and I turn into a 44 year old pumpkin for the very first time.

Feeling really happy tonight, considering my absentee husband, ds2 having a total stamping, wall hitting, abuse throwing, tantrum last night after finding he only had 2 hours on the xbox, and that his secret accounts to get around it had all been deleted. He finally fell asleep on the stairs outside my bedroom at around 10.30pm. All of 5 steps away from his own bed.

DS1 was in fits of giggles as I hoisted DS2 around his middle and frogmarched him to his bed. DS1 said it was like a nature documentary, when the mama tiger just takes its baby by the scruff of its neck and carries it off. to safely, while it just dangles there wondering what is going on.

DS2 was adamant he took himself off to bed last night. DS1 made sure he knew otherwise.

Right, off to bed with a book. It is utter trash but jolly good fun, so much so I didn't put it down until 1am. I was up at 7 and cleaning the kitchen by 7.30.:A

They don't tell you it will be like this. But unsurprisingly, when you tell someone it is like this, most parents know exactly what you are talking about. So why does nobody tell you ?? Are we all ashamed? or is it really a big secret? or is everyone just glad it is something they have to go through, and then they move out/ on and nobody wants to revisit that time? I dunno.

Suppose being called a 'hulking great whale' is not the worst thing to be called. :(
I am overweight. Perhaps he thought he was being helpful by pointing it out. I hope he appreciates the lack of ice cream and biscuits until I solve the problem he has helpfully highlighted. I am sure he wants to be supportive in my efforts:D

    Ooh, another one! Yay me!

    Thank you EE.

I am having a birthday coffee, with birthday politics, after birthday dusting, and birthday washing up last night's dishes.

I am planning a birthday trip to the dump and a birthday trip to Mr Ms to buy some birthday bread. All very exciting. Birthday presents will be opened when I get DH back from his weekend away, and then I will make unreasonable birthday sexual demands of his body. Well, you can't knock a girl for trying!!

Might as well get what you want for your birthday.

Happy Birthday f0xh0les Well done on the fireplace excavation.

I am sure you are far more sleek mama tigress than hulking whale too xx

I am going to challenge you in the excitement of a Sunday..I ordered a new toilet seat from Group0n, funded from a fleabay sale. Although to be fair it's not be birthday so I don't really deserve an exciting day. Still...I think that is even a new 'height' for me.
