Plans for the rest of the year!  Final Balance of 2025! 

Finish another 2 books and put them in the pile by the front door to go Back to Charity-Land! 

Go volunteering one last time, to the unheated warehouse, in 2025.

Hoover the whole entire house in one go, so that for one last time, the whole house is clean. 

Bake a cake for NYE - It should use up the last of the many many packets of Self Raising Flour.  New Year, New Flour (probably not a thing, but it probably should be).  It will also get rid of stuff I don't want to have in the house, looking at me, chocolate buttons and stem ginger- I'm talking to you!

Not going to log on to work fakebook site until next year, I will not be a slave to checking for work. If the last month has taught me anything, it is that 'they' know who I am now,  and can contact me directly if they really want me.  They ALL know who I am now     Gotta love office gossip.  Never ask me 'can I ask you a question?' in public, when I have a captive audience - you deserve whatever you get, even if you weren't about to propose / give away a cash prize /  experience an existential crisis (or likely be by the end of our conversation).  

Find somewhere to stash 10 (yes TEN) large bars of chocolate, and 2 large boxes of chocolate truffles, 4 bottles and one box-thing of red wine (I don't drink unless I am working!!).

  I....asked.....for.....flippin'......candles...!     Candles, don't contain calories.  Chocolates and wine do.   Why is everyone so helpful???

Ask a silly question, get turned into an impromptu gameshow contestant!  It's even worse when people have 'mislaid' a husband, or whole family. Strangely it is rarely a woman whose has gone missing. 
Q.  Can I have a photo with my parents?
A. Yes, where are they?  
A. Wetherspoons/ downstairs/ on the loo/ Croydon/ at the airport / not here yet ......  ???????? honestly???  Telephoto lens?

2026 so far has been odd.
Breakfast has been prepped and is in the fridge. Oats Overnighted.  Lunch has been soup for the last 2 days.  Loving it.  
House 80% clean and tidy. Slowly ploughing through one m3 at a time.

Had an email before 9.30 - could you work for us tomorrow? from Company #2.  

So I have 3 surprise days of work this week, and I can hop on the train to within 5 minutes walk from the host venue.  It will be an extra £500 in the pot for this month.  I am very happy this has happened.  I am still hoping to pick up another 2 days at another more local event next week, but again, if it is going to happen, it is going to be last minute.

Last month my expenses took me 5 hours, this month they took me 90 minutes!  I have mislaid one receipt,  but it was for less than £5.  It is still flipping annoying though. 

I went off and did most of the food shop, they have breakfasts, things for lunches, and stuff they can shove in the airfryer, as well as aubergines, and peppers, celery and carrots and olives and salady bits if they fancy something healthier (they will gorge on beige and munch all the chilli olives).   Anyway, apart from bread, they should want for nothing next week while I am working.  They will eat the 3 loaves I bought today and decimate the wraps by Monday afternoon I predict.  They could always buy themselves more bread if they run out.... or make some??  They are all over the age of 16, so I will not concern myself over the future lack of wheat-based-yeasted-baked-goods.  They will survive! Like Gloria Gaynor did.

Expenses of £103 got approved, expenses of £17 were rejected, because the date code for 1 claim (out of 4), for a whole £3.50, was wrong.  Resubmitted when I got home. 

DH is in a mess, he is marking on someone else's module, but DS3s computer broke this morning, so he had to be tech-man until he was certain it was a dead motherboard (RIP) and then got back to his marking. 

He also got invited to talk about his book at a book club  by a bunch of pseudo-hippy-dippy-headcases interested in inspirational healing and self-development through the medium of colouring in and rainbow seeding .   He does philosophy of the mind, but not that kind of mind....   He has politely declined. His kaftan is in the wash that day. 

Went volunteering, then went off to do some paid work.   Work went ok, it could have been completed in one hour flat, if people actually did anything instead of just talking about what needs doing. It drives me mad.  Anyway, I was only there for 2 hours instead of the normal 4, and I get paid the same if we get it all set up in 1 hour or 4.  It is just so inefficient,  invisible work friend bailed out 90 minutes before we were due to start.   She had a decent reason though. 

Came home, put up a thermal curtain liner on the curtain on the stairs. It came off the living room curtains a couple of years ago, and I 'refound' it in the back room and have decided one would go on the velvet curtain on the stairs, and the other under the velvet curtain on the front door.  It is as good a place as any for them to live.  I am so impressed that I can get the living room up to 18 degrees this year, or 15 degrees if it is -4 outside.  The rest of the house is still toasty.  Going to bed is a pleasure.  Finally!   It is unheard of. 

Made a meal from the freezer as DH is frazzled, all stuff just bunged in the air fryer, no added veg.  Bad me. 

Money is looking very good  with 12 days left of the month, and a decent paycheque coming on the 30th. 

Received 4 pieces of post through the door today, some dated 13th December, all of it from banks.  Very shoddy.

Wow … That’s a lot of drama for an on / off role …

Maybe getting big boss’s future resolved will clarify th8ngs within the business and bring some positive changes …? 🤞

Accounts have not been submitted for the year, so there will be a fine for that,  nobody knows who is in charge, and there is a conspiracy of silence about what is going on .... until someone gets into the bar and blabs.

Well thankfully that job is over, and I have nothing more with them until the end of March.  It is quiet season for a couple of months.  It was nearly unbearable watching someone who actually reveled in what they did not know, and just made things up instead of finding out how to help someone, or just loudly exclaiming  " I don't understand that", and walking away.  

You can't manage an industry that you don't understand, and don't want to understand. It isn't a fun little holiday, it is events management and customer service.   I don't have a problem with competent authority, I do have a problem with someone who just lies and refuses to learn what the job is about. Even though they have been 'working in it'  it for 15 years.  

Urgh.....  just Urgh!
