Do let us know how the fairy lights behave
NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!3 -
They are NOT behaving. I have 2 choices...
a) open up the solar box and swap out the rechargeable battery for one i know works and see if that charges....
b) chop off solar panels and add a switch and use my own rechargeable batteries to power them.

Option (a) is being tried and it appears to be working.... on initial testing anyway.DH made the mistake of looking at his NHS app and saw the words 'Urgent Cancer Referral' for hospital tests. So he has totally crashed and is an emotional wreck. Poor love.Hopefully it will all turn out to be nothing, but until he gets his tests and results he is understandably going to be a whole heap of worry and anxiety. Merry Christmas!Got all the paperwork for work at the start of next week, and then I am in Manchester overnight in the middle of the week.Tried to go shopping yesterday, total fiasco. I went out to the local out-of-town-retail-palace with my list of 4 pieces of clothing and the possibility of a pair of boots to be purchased, and came home 3 hours later with cheese and pasties. I am rubbish. I accept that I hate shopping. I tried, I touched a lot of things, I laughed a lot at some of the ridiculous items - the 1950s housewife seems to be a 'style' at the minute. All very 'Doris Day twin-set and pearls' . Sorry, but I am not spending £60+ on a jumper either! 5 hours wages for a jumper! It all looks very nice on the hanger, but after 5 washes it is fit for the rag bag or the bobble-off-shaver.Fear not, I shall not be nude and shivering on the sofa!!I'm off to the charity shops again where I will find my items b-n-w-t that someone else was daft enough to buy and never wear.4/10/25Three Years Mortgage Free Yay!

DH has an appointment for tests next week, while I am away - I am away for one whole night and two full days.Probably for the best, he can sort himself out and get himself there, and toss and turn, all in the safety of knowing I am not watching him.I have been offered another gig at the end of March, only a 1 day event, but it is in a lovely venue, with a lovely crowd, in an easy to get to location that I know very well, so I have agreed to do it....Plus it is 6 days after DH gets back from his Estonian Thinking Retreat Experience, he is having a lovely time trying to learn a bit of Estonian. More worrying is that he can already say 'I love you' !I guess the Du0ling0 target audience for English/American people learning Estonian is for romantic assignations.4/10/25Three Years Mortgage Free Yay!

I've been learning French on Du0lingo for 2 years and still haven't been taught to say 'I love you'!! 🤣
Sorry to hear DH has all this worry - sincerely hoping it's nothing significant in the end. Sending you both big hugs x

Thanks KK, they scared the life out of me 18 months ago deciding I was cancerous before the tests came back, then dropped me like a hot coal when I wasn't. So I am firmly in the 'wait for a diagnosis first' camp.
Whereas DH is discussing his will and POA.
Got another 2 days work offered in March this afternoon. I said yes.4/10/25Three Years Mortgage Free Yay!

Nearly all prepped for my 4 day 2 location working week.Tree up and dressed, one set of lights is dead, so the bottom half of the tree is lit and it is beautiful. Went around all the landings putting shiny red 'berries' on the garlands and it looks fab. I have some little toadstools on wires as well. Very witchy and woodlandy. Don't have to worry about small people eating things when smallest small is 16 in a fortnight.Spent a voucher from a survey thing on some multi-faceted glass things (probably for chandeliers) that I am going to string up and hang on the very bright landing upstairs. Sun-catchers for reflective purposes. Cheaper than a disco ball - in that a disco ball would be £30 odd and these were free to me
.It is raining and horrid here, so I am not going out to the local close-off-the-high-street Christmas Fair to spend £3.50 on one cupcake/pastry. I am going to stay home, bake flapjacks and a sponge and cover with coffee icing, get my travel mug and reusable cup ready in my bag for tomorrow, and iron a shirt or four because there is no way I am going to be able to do anything at 5.30 am except wash, slap my face on, make a coffee, and get to the station for 6am. Darling man is dropping me off and hopefully going back to bed. He only has to do it for 2 days, and to be fair, I drop him at the station at god-awful-o'clock-in-the-morning much more often than he drops me there
I have filled the advent calendars til 13th because I am not running round the house playing 'pixies' that early.4/10/25Three Years Mortgage Free Yay!

Two days work in Brum achieved with Work#2. As I was leaving I was told I am amazing and they would work with me again anytime, which was actually lovely to be told.I'm off to Manchester tomorrow with Work#1, stupidly I turned down a hotel for Thursday night because I will finish early enough to be home by 9pm, kicking myself now, as Work #2 have just offered me a day of work on Friday in Manchester, and Work#2 are tight with hotel accommodation, but sent them an email saying if they put me up on Thursday night, I will work for them on the Friday, because now I know they are short handed .... will wait and see what happens. The ball is in their court. It is nice to be wanted though.4/10/25Three Years Mortgage Free Yay!
