You are right doing the gloss woodwork is an awful job. Good luck with the wallpaperingMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

I have literally been diying all day long. I feel very boring. I spent zero pence today.Door and frame now glossed for second time. Looks good, but now I am thinking of doing the skirting again one last time before the carpet goes down. Just so I never, ever, ever, need to do it again. I will move house first!Painted DS2s walls again. I dislike the paler blue he has chosen, but he loves it, and that is what it is there for. Filled more holes, caulked, and have wallpapered 2ish walls - I ran out of paste for the final drop, and did not want to be mixing more paste after 7pm for one roll, when I have to do it in the morning for the landing wallpaper (different wetter mix needed for those rolls anyway). It will be done before lunchtime tomorrow, and he has claimed a long canvas of Durdle Door to go on his new blue walls. I only bought it to see if it was the right size for the space on the landing, it wasn't, I need something larger and even longer, and it was only 50p. He is delighted. It is his.Oh, and I did a load of laundry, and folded and returned three loads of laundry that have been residing in baskets on the kitchen floor, looking at me, in an accusatory way, but nobody else took responsibility for them, and now they are gone.More diy tomorrow.....4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

wow - I hope to match that level of DIYness over the next few months not in a single day.
I have a fondness for light blue - not completely pale but def well to the left of dark blue. Maybe its a boy thingI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Last wallpaper drop done. Decided the skirting boards were fine with 2 coats when I looked again this morning. Gloss fumes can mess with reality after a while....Stuck another coat of light blue on DS4s walls because you could just about see the white ghostly outline of the p0lyfillered holes. Looks much better now. He has chased me out of his room so he can shout down his microphone at his mates while shooting things. Will nip in during the week and do the little finishy bits.Hoovered and tidied up a bit. Not a lot else really, except coffee and politics this morning. Feel like I need to be doing more. Got a long list of things to do but motivation is seeping away like bathwater down the plug'ole.A visit to the Land of Carpet warehouse is looming large next week. I have the funds for it, but when did beds become so expensive?? £500 and that is without the mattress! Will keep on looking.....Monday is a really busy day, ferrying my Octogenarian Gentlemen in the morning - they normally travel together, but the one who drives has a cataract and has been banned until it is fixed, so I am now a taxi for our volunteering session. So nothing will get done before 12, and then I am back at 3 for another session,4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Just sent off an email asking about future work dates. Three weeks ago she said she was going to finalise the dates the week after.... I get that the people who have worked there the longest get first refusal. That is fine. It is how businesses work. I would rather be told that there was nothing coming up they needed staff for, than be checking my email every day just in case they have been in touch. So far I have nothing in my work diary. Nothing at all.So the decorating will continue. Just measured up all the top floor bedrooms for carpet.Volunteering again tonight, and then I have a clear run, through to Thursday, without commitments and distractions.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Well done on all the decorating and the sons perking up! Fingers crossed on the new work
Sounds like you have done all your grieving and goodbyes years ago so hopefully you are fine.. sometimes one can think about 'if only they had been normal'..
DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

£45 magically appeared in my TopHatCashBack account for my £219 car insurance policy in January. Thank you! Was not expecting that. DS1 has given me half of his cost-of-living social security payment, because his cost of living has not gone up, but he does need a new coat and he has been looking into back-to-work benefits, so I think this might be him waking up a bit more.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

This month is a bit odd, with unexpected bits of money popping up all over the place. Nice though! Got confirmation from those pesky Child Tax peoples that I never need to fill in another form (I have not received anything from them for a couple of years anyway, but I kept my account open, just because).I do have money coming in next month - 2 kids regular savers mature, one ISA matures (£700ish interest) so money will be back in the kitty. I have somehow managed to save £2000 for the bathroom fund since paying Le Builder. The promised 'future' work offer email has not appeared. I have £550 coming in for last month's work, which will straight out again for carpets.Still finishing off jobs that I have started and walked away from. I have found some solutions to problems during my procrastination periods though.Today is the last day of school before half term. DS3 has one hour cramming sessions for his GCSEs at 9.30s for 4 of those days. He has signed himself up. I have promised to drive him to and from. I am very happy he is taking the help offered.DS1 has two interviews.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Super positive post - especially about your DSs.
As regards cash flows - when its raining money use your biggest bucket - sometimes it just works out like that
I think today's by election results may have postponed talk of an early GE so nothing coming there but exam season is upon us so hopefully being reliable and available may swing some your wayI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
