F0xh0les i need your input please as I know you also do RM posting in payment for HRH heads.
I have just started and my nearest box has a collection at 9am weekdays, 7am Saturdays, or vice versa. Anyway, it's one collection per day, and early. I had an item to feed into said box on a Monday that said before mIdday. So i posted mid morning.
I then got a query saying their records showed it hadn't entered their system until Tuesday  (Which would have obviously been the case based on the collection times) and was I sure I'd entered my posting time correctly. Given they have the last post times of the box, surely they would be able to calculate an item posted after the only collection but within the correct time would not enter the system until the next collection? Has this ever happened to you before? Did I do something wrong?

Did you do something wrong?  No, but the general rule that they used to explain beautifully but no longer seem to do (I have been taking The Queen's Head for quite a while) is they would like you to post before the last collection time on the front shield. So as long as it is the same start of postcode - MM2 - - -   you can post it anywhere within that area.  It does not have to be the closest one to you -  I have about 25 postboxes saved to my account because I post them wherever I am closest to on that date/time.  So if you get a 'post after midday', and your local supermarket has a postbox, they tend to be 5pm and later, as are the ones on the street outside a post office.
As long as you post the letter in the box on the right day, and log the time - and the correct collection time is on the sheet- then that is fine.  You are doing what they have asked, it is not your fault if there is only one collection a day from that box.  You will get to know which boxes are earlies and which are lates - it is actually quite a handy thing to know sometimes.
If the item is entered into the system after it is expected, then often you get an automated 'Are you sure?' message.  Just click Yes.  It is sent to everyone, not just you. The PO is working on a reduced workforce right now, they are just checking their data is correct.

Thank you. Oddly when I did the 'are you up to this job' test posting, the instructions always said a day and 'before / after last posting' but now they just say before / after midday. There is another post box I could walk to which has a later collection of 4.30 but this one is really handy as it's right at the top of my road, so if I'm not going out for anything else, or even if I am going out, I have to go past it anyway.
You're right about knowing the collection times - I'm quite good with a few of the local ones due to best intentions for cards etc then not posting them until the last minute.
I do wish they'd stop sending items to prepare in plastic bags - seems terribly un-eco-friendly.
