greent we once had a cold rad. It never worked since we moved in. Turned out it hadn’t been plumbed in properly; it was the equivalent of a plumbing short circuit. Took plumber 2 visits to work it out- he had never seen anything like it before. FH sorry to hijack. Your lunch sounds yummy.8

We did not have double glazing until I was about ten, and when I left home my useless parents had just had a kitchen extension built, so the new kitchen and ground floor shower room had a radiator in, but nowhere else, not the living room, or the first or second floors. So I know that central heating is a relatively new concept, and warm slippers and dressing gowns and hot water bottles are perfectly adequate to sustain life, I mean we only had a gas fire in the living room - it made you be sociable if you wanted to be warm. The frost flowers on the windows left when the double glazing came though. We are all becoming a bit soft aren't we?4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Then again if you’re all working and studying from home it needs to be warm enough for brains to work and fingers to be able to type!
So a cool house should improve brain power as well as being educational...If it's not adding up, compound it!7 -

Today's Soup of the Day was celeriac - looks awful, kind of like a semolina colour, but it was light, and fluffy, and tasted great. So I made some croutons and covered them in salt and pepper, and everyone looked at it and went ' errrr... not sure about this..' and then tasted it and went 'Ooooh, can I have some more?' Job done.In more exciting news the bag I keep my onions in in the pantry gave me a £5 note! Then DS4 claimed it as his missing one. Boo! Easy come, easy go. Just had a fun hour on the sofa watching The Masked Pony, sorry The Masked Singer. Jolly good fun and all very silly. Now I am off to make some walnut and plum soda bread. and some regular soda bread, because that is the kind of girl I am.In a bit of a funny mood today, and I am itchy. Something is pinging on my allergies, itchy eyes, sneezing, itchy hands, so at least this bread can be made with a spoon, and no kneading, Today will be sponsored by P1r1t0n. Should be fine 15 minutes after I remember to take it. Sadly I have not remembered to take it since I had the idea at 7am. Total Air-Head todayAnyway, Soda bread!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

TAKE THE PIRITON!!!
I had a lot of jerusalem artichokes in my veg boxes over Christmas, so roasted a few and then made the rest into artichoke and chestnut soup. I'm rationing it...6 -
I took it! I keep thinking I will go into the pantry and take the p1r1t0n, then end up in the pantry ordering the tins, then making the tea, then sitting down and thinking, I should have taken the p1r1t0n, I will after I drink my tea, then end up making lunch etc. Anyway, it is in me and working in seconds. Hoorah! So did the washing up, and took the plum and walnut soda bread out of the oven and it looks marvelous! I figured it would go with sweet, savory, or just plain.DH bought some v expensive fauxmage (posh cashew based cheeses) which honestly are totally wasted on me. There is a nice b0ursin type one, but the cheddar one and the mouldy one I would not have paid over a fiver for.But if it cheers DH up (he has still not left the house this year) and makes him happy and takes his mind of the pandemic, then spending my whole food budget for last week on a few bits of cheese, it is worth it psychologically. Quite a few of his friends have hospitalised parents. He thinks I am terribly brave going out to the foodbank, and doing the shopping, and the occasional trip to the park with the kids. Honestly, he is absolutely terrified. The last time we were out anywhere as a family was 342 days ago, when we went out for DS3s birthday meal to p1zza Xpress in February. The schools were closed in March, then Leicester went into local lockdown after about a week of lessons and were closed again. I know I should probably do a home delivery order, but the horror stories I have heard about substitutions - and the odd attitudes some people have about vegans - makes me fear it. So I will keep going at 7 on a Monday night, work around the out of stock items, keep my mask on, my hands santised, and wash when I get in the door. My hands are a mess though - which proves I am remembering to wash/disinfect often.
