I'm surprised no one has mentioned prune gin, which is obviously both medicinal and one of your five a day...If it's not adding up, compound it!6

Also once the gin is ready the prunes can then be covered in dark chocolate for fancy snacks or gifts - waste not want not3

I haves just informed the primary school I will not be sending DS4 in tomorrow. I do not feel it is safe. Then Ms Sturgeon locked down Scotland, which made me feel better, then I read the local rag, which listed the local primaries who have decided to remain closed/ did not have enough staff to safely open, and I feel much better about it.I recognise that I am lucky in that childcare is not an issue, and fully support that the schools should stay open for key workers / kids at risk who are not old enough to be 'home alone'. The fewer kids in school, the lower the risk. Then The Clown announces he is making a statement at 8pm. Hopefully we will lockdown tonight and the people who are not being sensible will start to see sense, and the rest of us can continue being careful. Our primary school has stated they are not legally obliged to provide home learning and so will not be doing so. Unless the schools are shut down for people who can stay home with their kids. Then they wil be obliged and will be doing it. But not until they are made to.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I just wish the fool would make his mind up with time to spare for once. I've done a full day of work today with one thing in mind, and now it looks as though that's all going to be changing again. Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

DS3 just had some of my Xmas cake and announced ' Well that's messed up my Dry January' (he is 12).He is utterly delighted about lockdown and even did a little dance, said 'this is a total disaster for my education!', smiled a huge smile, then asked where we would be walking to tomorrow, or if he could go on his bike.DS4 is pretty happy about it too - he said he missed our walk today (I was volunteering).DS1 and 2 do not yet know, or at least have not come down to ask about it.The plan for tomorrow involves a walk after breakfast, and finding out what learning materials will be online. Then the afternoon can be their own. Walkies, Workies, Widgets. In that order.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Hi Foxholes :waves:
Just popped in to say I love your diary. I've lurked for ages but your phrase 'walkies, workies, widgets' made me howl and want to say thank you! With three very anti-school/learning/housework/anything-vaguely-constructive but always argumentative DS in the house, this may well be my new mantra for the coming weeks.DH and I are calculating which will suffer more - schoolwork, our own work or our sanity. We're fortunate to work from home, but it's not exactly conducive to productivity with three DS screaming as soon as we try to make a phone call.
Unfortunately our lovely Welsh government have not yet made up their minds what is happening. We've been in lockdown since before Christmas, but had three press releases from the school/LA today, ranging from 'welcome back on Wednesday' to 'actually, maybe next Monday'. Then the BBC announced all schools closed until 18th, probably, but we've had radio silence. I think we'll just assume Feb at the earliest. It's my own fault - I jinxed it by buying DS3 new school shoes today - a decidedly 'judged' purchase in the local supermarket from the 'non-essential' aisle. I took his old pair in my bag to prove the soles are hanging in shreds in case I was challenged or tutted at.
We're in a similar kind of house I think - 5 bed Edwardian liveable wreck, gradually working through the rooms. We have however found a wonderful roofer who has been up the three storeys since November, gradually making us watertight. They'll be more to do on the other side of the house in summer, but at least we've lost the bucket. I also love baking and have a larder, so love your ideas. Although I am most definitely not 2 stone lighter than a year ago.
Anyway, just wanted to say I check in regularly and your exploits really do make me smile.12
