24 recipes for prunes on the Beeb website. Some look like they can be veganised.
At the moment for butter I use oil or dairy free spread. Eggs use aquafaba and milk, oat milk. I just substitute and it works really well. Recently on a White Christmas cake from Mr Bake Off's website, it was so popular I will make more5 -
Hope you feel less frazzled tonight.

my mum used to do date & lemon squares which could probably use prunes instead; dates/prunes heated to break them down a bit possibly with a bit of golden syrup & butter, combine with some lemon juice & rice crispies, pack down into a square cake tin, once cooled cover with a thin layer of chocolate, cut into squares once set
adjust non vegan bits as needed- Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted

Oh that sounds like a proper family hand me down recipe @trix-a-belle !It is a seriously big sack - over 3kg and I am worried that I will not get through it before it goes bad - because it is more squishy than a dried date or apricot, I assume it will, but do semi-dried fruit go mouldy or am I just stressing over nothing? I should probably look in one of my wartime cookery books, actually, I just found a fab website called f00dc0mbo.c0m where you put in your ingredient (or 2 or 3) and it gives you suggestions, I am going to pass on the potato and prune Knish ((You...What?!!)) but I think I could get some Earl Grey tea poached prunes and oranges past the kids(with some vanilla ice cream).Well that has just made the pantry inventory much more interesting. I can hopefully find some recipes for the more random ingredients in there now.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Jack Reacher's favorite dish is Porc aux Pruneaux - here is a french vegan version (you can translate the page to English - which is hilarious, but it also looks delicious and uses 500g of prunes

I've had semi dried apricots in the cupboard for quite a long time past their best before date and they haven't gone mouldy and I'm still using them from time to time! Think they're probably a year OOD now.

Just eat the prunes as snacks
Have them stewed with porridge. Although 3kg might have a dramatic effect on digestion, so rationing the boys might be an idea...

You'll be a bit young for this yet but might find it interesting: about 4 years ago I was diagnosed with osteoporosis and put on alendronic acid and calcium for 3 years. I happened to see on one of the MSE forums a mention of the efficacy of prunes for osteoporosis so had a quick Google and it turns out that they contain stuff, ( medical term) that helps. I'm always ready to try anything if it won't do me any harm, so started having 4 or 5 a day, what's to lose? - 99p a bag from lidl which lasts a week and not an amount that caused any unwanted side effects. Fast forward 3 years to my next bone scan and no more osteoporosis! One hip is osteopoenic, but the other hip and lower back are fine and all have improved bone density. I appreciate that the drugs probably did most of the work, but still have my prunes every day just in case; as I said, what's the harm? I'm 67 and incredibly clumsy, always tripping up and bashing myself but, touch wood, no broken bones. It helps that I really like prunes!9

Thank you Nonna! @Nonnadiluca DH has a Lithuanian Uncle whose father used to produce these chocolate covered plums (prunes) at Xmastime, so that was my starting point, as I remember his family reminiscing about them, apparently it is a traditional Eastern European thing. So I tried them out and they are great, but I was hoping I would not have to dunk 3+kg of them, I will never say anything bad about a prune again if it fixed your osteo problems, and now you have passed on your wisdom to all of us too. Thank you.

Prunes and custard - yum
Prunes in a chocolate cake - makes it all sticky and dense. Could probably use prunes in sticky toffee pudding instead of dates, too.
