DS1 has spent the day stripping wires and screwing things to control panels. He is remarkably chipper tonight, but knackered. It was his first day of ''proper work''.
All the fun men at the foodbank are down with strained backs or dodgy knees right now. Mind you most are into their 70s or thereabouts. It is pretty physical stuff sometimes. Utterly exhausted tonight.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Spent yesterday coughing like mad, voice went god knows where, but, I slept well, woke up pretty much ok again I think. Should be fine for volunteering tomorrow.
So .... still have about 5 portions of chilli left over from last night (I made a LOT), removed sausages from the fridge for lunch, the fridge is looking much emptier - I like that, once a week to be able to see exactly what is staying in there, and what needs to be gone. Plus FareShare will be at the f/b tomorrow and we can take fresh stuff at the close of the session as it only goes off to the community cupboard after that. Lots of veg and bread, and mice pies - all being rescued from landfill - no vegan friendly mice pies though yet. But it is not December anyway and that is when I can buy some. I love a good mice pie. Not keen on the iced ones though. Sugar on Sweet with a hefty dash of Icing.
Sadly I have managed to split the thighs of 3 pairs of jeans this week. I blame the tumble drier and all the stairs and lifting and squatting at the f/b - 3 pairs in a week! So I will have to hit the c/shop as so far this year apart from knickers and a very reduced T Shirt, I have not bought anything for me that was 'New'. Found a vgc mountain warehouse coat for DS3 for £3 this morning though. Next size up, so DS4 can go into DS3s coat and DS3 can have the new one until he grows again.
Made a mango cheesecake type affair with bits and bobs from the fridge and pantry. So boys' pudding is sorted.
Posted spyware cube this morning and have the survey so that will be £4.50 to spend in Icyland on coffee cremes, and £8 in the Amaz0nian place.
I do not have a single candy cane in the house. I do have 4 bags of chocolate coins (ys) though.
Did get in touch with the water-soluble locksmith, he now thinks even if I got a new (to me) ignition barrel and keys and passenger side lock, there might be a problem with the immobiliser. !!!!!!! I am close to just taking the car to the garage and telling them to fix it. If it is not resolved in the next 24 hours then it can go on holiday - it has gone on too long now. It started in what? August? September? and if I cannot pin the guy down, maybe the garage can. Anyway, my MOT is due in 3 weeks and it won't pass with a stuck key. So there. I have the money now, (enough to even take it to the N1ssan garage and get it fixed), and the locksmith has 24 hours to get back to me or it is going into the garage. End of.... no part deux. Bloody thing is only worth £1500 anyway!
Just had the second coughing fit of the day! joy!
DS1 toddled out the door on time this morning quite happily, but is a little disturbed that most of his friends might be getting paid for their work experience (and a few are not enjoying it at all - think unpaid filing clerk instead of computer programmer - but hey! first jobs/no experience, and all that - we have all been there).
3 pickups in 3 places tonight for the school run. Supper will be more sausages I think. I can't honestly be faffed. Will give them a choice of more chilli, baked potatoes or sausage and chips.
DH is out at a housewarming tomorrow evening, and at the picket line tomorrow and Friday. So I am planning on a nice bath and washing my hair.
I do not want the norovirus coming anywhere near me.

Glad there's no signs of the dreaded NV in the house f0xh0les
Hope that cough does one soon though.
That's great you get to take some LO fresh stuff at the end of the FB session. I would love to try one of the morries boxes but we don't have one near us. I always forget about the lidl veg boxes, not sure of the wisdom of having them placed after the checkouts. I usually don't spot them until I'm on my way out of the store and I do not have the will by that time to go back round again, even for bargain veg.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

After the clients at the f/b fill their boots with the fresh veg (there is about 8 different vegetables, and some are well within their sell by date) it goes to the community fridge, which is a community led thing to stop food going to landfill, and is run 5 afternoons a week out of one of the old Surestart family centres . Anyone can turn up and take it. We even had 2 massive sacks (nearly 4ft high) of onions, and so many butternut squashes/pumpkins/peppers and asparagus. - I mean whole trays of them. So I don't feel bad about taking any, as I would only drive over to the C. Fridge straight afterwards anyway.
DS1 is bored at work experience. He is doing the exact same thing as the apprentice there, except he does not make the tea/coffee or do the washing up. The apprentice is on £3.90 for a 40 hour week. DS1 thought this was ok. I explained to him that gas and electricity and food and travel is no less expensive for an apprentice than a paid employee. That rent, college supplies, and toilet paper is not less for an apprentice. Just because you are under 19 does not mean you are still living at home. Under £4 an hour! That is criminal. DS1 is rethinking many things during this week of experiencing work. Least of all, that some people do not enjoy their jobs.
DH is loving having his lunch made for him and working from home. He is on the picket line for the next two days. Forecast is first wet, then cold.
Apparently Boris is going to pull out of the Andrew Neil Interview after JC crashed and burned last night. My goodness that was a must watch! Prince Andrew and JC must have the same press advisor. It was bad. Boris does not have the bottle to do it. Too many skeletons, too much continued planned austerity to have to justify. Too big a risk that shouting Get Brexit Done! like Brian Blessed will not stop Neil from asking the questions.
I was actually sad to hear that Clive James had died at the weekend and was buried today. Blast from the past.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

We got our ballot papers today...it's a bit like being asked which method of execution you'd prefer.
I was sad about Clive James, and Gary Rhodes, only 59
Suffice to say it sounds like work experience is a bit of a wake up call for DS1 then.
If it wasn't so far I'd be up for some onion and squash...not asparagus though as I may or may not have a bit of an allergy to it and don't really want to push my luck there (twice when I've eaten it I came out in hives almost immediately, had some this year and was fine but don't really want to play Russian roulette with a vegetable )Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Well today it was onions, oranges, clementines, apples, baby potatoes, green beans, carrots, brown loaves and whatever else came in the three big baskets that were empty when I came back from sorting in the warehouse. Lots of people were fed today.
Managed not to have a coughing fit, lots of lifting and fetching and carrying. Half an hour after I left, huge coughing fit. I have a well behaved cough.
£21 left in the bank for this week. About £3.50 left in my purse. I have cashed in another £8 of vouchers for dark chocolate covered peanuts, because every child needs small bags of reindeer poop in their advent calendar.
DS3 is practically bouncing off the walls in excitement about decorations over the weekend. He is driving me insane(r) already.
No sign of locksmith. But then again, we knew that already didn't we? Will drop into the garage on the way home from the school run.
Night all!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Hope the cough improves. Was in your neck of the woods earlier this week as I went to look at a new (to me) car and I drove past her0n foods and thought of you!
Excellent work at the FB. Car is front runner on the list, 1 more to view and then need to make a decision. So maybe back next week. If I am, will definitely pop to Her0n as on searching it appears to be my local one !?!?1 -
Ah, the Saffron Lane one? 98% of it is utter tat, but that 2% is priceless. There is one slap bang in the centre of town near the ugly clock tower too.
Right, I am off down to the garage to ask them about my car. Wish me luck, I'm going in while I feel brave.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
