I wonder if we are entering The Drinking Years.
Pop a bucket by his bed just in case and never think that first hangover will mean he's learned his lesson...let's face it, most of us didn't(I did however learn that I cannot drink vast qtys of cheap cider without being very very ill with it)

Could you make your own lemony-flavoured-medicinal-drinks? Obv without the honey; but lemon juice, a sugary substitute, aspirin/paracetamol + hottish water?NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!1

Luckily my 2 DDs didn't enter the drinking years until eldest was at Uni and youngest moved out. (There was one incident with DD2 where she arrived home at 3am with a friend and a random boy who wouldn't let them get a taxi alone ((meant DH was driving him home at 4am when we'd worked out who/where/why))...anyway, DD2 was very merry, away with the fairies and then just flung herself on her bed sobbing "I can't feel my toes"... absolutely hysterical for me and the friend which made her sob louder..bless)"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. He has just appeared home, 15 minutes after I let his brothers finish all the food, having had nothing stronger than a lemonade and having spent a lovely 4 hours playing poker and Mari0 kart.
The drinking years may have been postponed.
He has gone to the chinese with a tenner.
DS3 is quite desperate to be be able to have a grown up nasty lemon drink, and he refuses to take a tablet, and annoyingly, those powders of Mr Beecham's are full of milk powder, so while I could slip a bottle of Lemon barley water into my basket, and serve it hot, but he balks at swallowing the tablet. He still takes calpol!
Got quite annoyed at school this morning. There was a lady who has something to do with a 'rival' foodbank, and the way she was talking about her clients - she really seemed to look down on them, especially the ones who had chosen to have more than 1 child. "Well, now they don't get benefits for any after the second one, so what do they expect?" type thing. Judgemental, sanctimonious old bag. She is doing it to make herself feel superior, not to help someone who finds themselves in need. grrrrr. I will avoid in future.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Well good news that there will be no vomit laden bowls to be emptied tomorrow, perhaps he'll turn into a professional poker player instead?
What about dissolving a dispensable aspirin in your own home made lemony drink for DS3? Ahhh, I miss the days where calpol would make everything right with the world, now i don't think calpol will result in the bills being magically paid, the housework done and transport me to a dessset island :rotfl:
Let's hope that sanctimonious old troll never finds herself in a position where she needs support from anyone. I have a friend who needed foodbanks through no fault of her own after being left high and dry with three kids. She came up with a really yummy casserole type recipe, I'm trying to persuade her to do recipe cards for the food banks with tips on them for storecupbaord / freezer ingredients that can make a good meal out of typically food bank fayre.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Nothing like having to have IV antibiotics to make you a pro at taking tablets :rotfl: Just ask my ds, who is now a pro at taking tablets.
I can't help but wonder why these sachets have all gone to 16+ My science brain has lots of arguments about this in terms of medicine being administered by weight and brains not being fully developed until early twenties, so there can't be much in the way of safety issues. Curious.
Your ds sounds quite delightful. I remember coming home so drunk one night at college that my purple hair dye had run all over my white dress as I'd been out in the rain, and my mam told me to go straight to the bathroom if I felt sick, so I got in the empty bath and fell asleep there for the whole night. Not giving up

I suspect a lot of it is pharma companies covering their backsides with H&S. There's not a lot in the sachets except paracetamol and a decongestant.

Funnily enough the normal strength lem5ip is 16+ but the max strength is 12+. Although I was surprised some of the packs now contain lactose, good job I am an expert packet reader.
DH has manfully decided he is doing lunch. So there. That's me told. Well, if he wants to cook at the weekend, who am I to stop him?
I am still bleedin' freezing!! and getting cross at all the coverage of the 3 parties laying out their 20+hours of free childcare from 9 months old. You would have had to have broken every finger in my body to get me to give up any of my 9 month olds to a stranger, and they are not just offering it to people going back to work, it is for everyone who wants it, because apparently it is damaging for a child not to be in a nursery environment.

Ah, the drinking years :rotfl: good luck with that. Actually, so far I have got off very lightly. DS1 never drank at all whilst at home, DS3 started once he went to Uni, DS2 was quite a party animal but usually stayed over at friend's house when they went out which I feel is the ideal arrangement! One memorable night he came home around midnight and just stood swaying slightly and grinning. When asked if he would like to go to bed now, he just happily nodded, and swayed and grinned for about another 30 minutes. We still laugh about that night.Starting Mortgage 01.08.08 £171,209.24. This morning I am off to Mr T's, I have found a £3 off a £30 spend voucher, another £7 of points vouchers, and cashed in a survey voucher for £10, so if I 'spend' £30.01 I will actually pay £10.01, so I am going to do that. I am running low on milk and oxo cubes and sugar, and I know Tw1nnings is on offer at the minute at most stores so I can stock up on Earl Grey.
DS3 went off to parkrun with DH and came home complaining he was cold. Really? Well he is currently steeping in a hot bath. They wear jumpers in July and shorts and T-shirts in November. Muppets.
Dh has bought a fancy new (to him) watch that is bossing him about. It tells him how many steps he does, it vibrates at him if he sits down for more than 40 minutes at a time, and suggests he gets up and moves around, then tells him how many calories he has used up. 2nd hand £40. His new toy. He is running a slow 2k (12 minutes) three times a week, with a strapped up knee, and is then rubbing himself down with ibru-gel and a hot water bottle, but he is happier inside his head and has stopped popping the pain pills. So his knee must be feeling a little better, hence the return to running about a bit. His cold has nearly disappeared, along with a whole packet of fish friends, like magic (considering he has had it since August).
More snow forecast overnight to the East of us, but we are pretty much stuck at a steady 7 or 8 degrees all week. Thermals at the ready! Will have to try and find my slippers as the cold coming up from the floor on the ground floor is horrendous.
Hence my poor throbbing toes.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
