Keep it on topic, even if we disagree.

No problem in disagreeing. It's the way you and AndyPix use this thread as your own personal war zone. Don't care much who is right (although I've seen plenty of sound advice from you before) and the way of disagreement is much more prone to derail this thread than anything I've said just now or previously.

In fact, right now, you are the only one derailing this thread.
This is exactly how it happens, so now you are the problem. Don't you see it?
I object to what you have written and as such the thread gets derailed.

AP and I both posted solutions to a problem, but she decided to question my solution. I reaffirmed that my solution was correct and provided further explanation including information on the links posted by AP.

So, however poorly the debate was handled, all on topic and possibly educational. People learned of the different ways to activate their machines and have the choice of utilising a home brew DELL image or official Microsoft images. I have no control over whether AP makes silly comments. but I have a duty to respond if he makes baseless accusations and misleads people into downloading unverified 'homebrew' images not of his own making.

You would not have known that if not for the on-line 'debate'.

Whereas your post drags the thread off-topic and certainly doesn't contribute anything of use to the OP or anyone else hoping to glean helpful info for their technical issue. They now have to wade through these off-topic posts...because of you.. Get it? So stop it, otherwise you are guilty of exactly of what it is that you claim to complain.
Now are you going to continue to drag the thread off-topic or actually add some useful information pertinent to the topic? You decide. But at least now you understand what it is that you are doing. You don't have the moral high ground. You are part of the problem. Keep it on-topic.

You are not being very impressive here. I don't much care whether you approve of my contribution. Your war with AndyPix is what is causing the problem IMO. I suspect people give up reading threads such as these because even if there is good advice it is hidden in the bile that you exchange with the contributor in the red corner.
I'm seeking to educate you to the downside of your style but I accept with little if any hope of success. The one thing I do agree with is

Are you still going on? You really have an inflated idea of your importance. Do you think that I care about your contribution here? I'm only replying to be polite. But as I stated, it's only you who continues to drag the thread off topic in the misguided idea that what you are stating actually matters. it doesn't and I certainly didn't bother reading it until the end....as it has nothing to do with the the OP's question.

So you can continue to post in the same vein if you wish, but I for one, aren't particularly interested. I've already explained what happens and your posts only serve to exacerbate the situation. so give it a rest....eh? You have just made yourself part of the problem, not part of a solution.

You are replying to be polite! Thanks for your permission to post. You haven't yet explained why it is necessary to be so confrontational. I expect you are blissfully unaware of the impact you have on others. People like you often are. No problem in not reading to the end. Wouldn't want the challenge to be too great.

Are you still insisting on derailing the thread for your own ends?

G69, you are wasting your time and anyone else's hoping to find info on upgrading from Vista.

I actually found this debate quiet useful.
Came to know a lot of new stuff from both posters, and both seem to have knowledge about IT. (i'm jealous)

I would say it was a positive healthy debate and was on the topic.
If you read all posts from top to bottom, you would understand.

You seem to be mixed up . Your first post in this thread , post #8, was you deciding to question my solution.

What, you mean like you did here ??
You can utilise Philip Yip's unofficial slipstreamed DELL re-installation images if you want to save time.
Sheesh, you really dont like not being the centre of attention do you ?

Indeed, your suggestion that they needed an OEM image was erroneous.

Yes, I made clear the source of the the links that you posted in so people can decide for themselves whether they want to download and install 'homebrewed' images.

This is a technical forum. I'm happy to debate anything of a technical nature here in order to get to the best solution.

I'm not the one posting silly pictures and links to homebrewed images and not bothering to make clear to all that they are unofficial images created by someone else other than himself.

So, let's keep it factual, rather than your usual childish nonsense.
