since then she hasnt once asked asked about the baby or how I'm feeling or asked if Im doing ok with the hormone swing etc (Im now currently 20 weeks) - whenever I talk to her its always about her and her job or (more recently) her boyfriend who she has recently split up with after only being together for 2 months.

You basically want her to ask so you can say everythings ok, you don't want to discuss problems you're having (are you even having any?) and you don't have news because you've not had a scan?

newcook's friend doesn't know that everything is alright because she hasn't asked!

It sounds a very one-sided friendship and hard to understand why it's gone on for so long without this issue being dealt with.

I think asking someone how their pregnancy is going is just polite. You would ask how someone's house move went or possibly how their wedding planning is going. To me this is exactly the same.

After suffering a miscarriage I was terrified of getting bad news at every scan (12 weeks, 20 weeks, 28 weeks, 32 weeks, and 36 weeks), but as I was high risk due to twins a lot of people were told after 12 weeks, so my logic was people would ask anyway so it didn't bother me.

  • As Robin said Godparents usually help the parents with the child's spiritual upbring so if neither of you are religious then the problem is solved.
