ex still holds credit card in my name

Discovered that my ex husband still holds at least one (may be others) credit card in my previous married name. We have been divorced many years now. Spoke to the bank who confirm which I already know that I am not responsible for any spending on this account as I am a second card holder but was told they are unable to stop my card. What concerns me is that someone can use this card as a form of ID, I have never lived at his current address, I see no reason for him to have this card but am appalled that the bank are powerless. Has anyone come across this? This seems to me quite wrong and I am surprised the bank condone it I was told that unless he calls to stop the card, they would continue to send it out to him!

It's his account and his cards. Nothing you can do.

Cards alone would not be used for ID. There is normally statements and proof of address needed for any financial products.

Your ex may have cancelled the card you have anyway, you would not be made aware as it's not your account.

I've only ever been able to use a card as ID to pick up parcels from the Post Office / Clic & Collect type stuff.

How did you find out? Has he told you or is this second hand information?

    * If the account is in his name you have no liability.
    * As the account is in his name the bank cannot take instructions from you. This does not mean that they 'condone' it or that they are powerless. It's just that they can, quite rightly, only take instructions from the account-holder.
    * If you are uncomfortable with the situation you could simply ask your ex to cancel the additional card.
    * It is highly unlikely that ID fraud would result from a CC existing with your name on it as a second card-holder.

I understand that you may be concerned but the reality is that there is little for you to be concerned about.
