Totally agree.
Too many people take those sorts of deals out on a whim without thinking it through.0 -
You said DVSA could / would / do take interest in DPF issues. You havent produced any evidence of that because you cant, therefore you're just scaremongering on the internet because its simply not true.
Sadly you're trying to derail the thread rather than admit that.0 -

Look at the construction and use regs if you want evidence. I'm not doing it for you. Are you saying the DVSA can't enforce them?0 -

Show us evidence they are, bearing in mind they are a road safety body.0 -
Here is some scaremongering from the Guardian
More than 1,000 diesel cars caught without pollution filter, figures show
https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2016/apr/17/diesel-particulate-filter-removal-air-pollution-department-for-transport
These were just MOT fails on the visual check, they haven't even told them to get the infra red thermometers out yet
But not much chance of that as you say because
UK car pollution checks dropped five years ago
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-35844778I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

And show us where they investigate dpfs as part of road safety?
Your problem is you don't like the fact that people can gut their dpfs so you're trying to say there is some scary monster government body who will find out and prosecute you if you do. When in reality there isn't.
And now you're being pushed on it you can't produce any evidence to support it.0 -

And those blatantly dim 1000 odd people were caught because they removed the box too.
As per later in the article, cutting a hole in the top, gutting it and refitting it is undetectable0 -
Silver surfer - you're an MOT tester. Motorguy turns up with his diesel car. You inspect the DPF VISUALLY, which is all you're allowed to do.
Question - has he removed the DPF or not. Are you looking at an empty box? How can you tell?
You're not allowed to remove your DPF. It's monumentally stupid to do so. But how do you get caught. Also, please stop demanding evidence of other people, whilst at the same time telling them to do their own research.0
