Dont be ashamed mate - we've all been there.I can reassure you that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
But you must meet your debt head on, the sooner your set up a plan (repayment of any kind) the better.
Good luckO/D -£550!! clear by Aug 2008
Halifax CC - £3200, paying £150 per month 0% interest! :T0 -
ok - quick update from me.
feeling much more upbeat tonight(no i haven't been drinking)
Received confirmation from CCCS about my DMP. Instructs me to send a copy of the letter to all of my creditors, which i will do tomorrow. i guess now i wait for CCCS to contact them all. I haven't had to give any account numbers yet though is that right??
Egg were due to call me earlier as i missed there call yesterday. Mainly to talk over a repayment plan. Do i just tell them CCCS are dealing with it now??
ALso with regards to going on a DMP from what i can make out you cant get credit for 5 years, which for me wouldn't be a bad thing to be honest. Is that correct??
Payment will be made in 1st of each month which is fine as im paid on teh 25th. So i guess i dont pay my creditors next month??
so yeah feeling happier a bit now. I have told my girlfriend EVERYTHING and she has been very supportive and helpful. She just wishes i had told her last year cos she would have made me do something about it then.
Will probably get a nasty letter/phonecall from someone tomorrow to put me back on a downer. Hey ho.0 -
also i will try and post an SOA of what my g/f pays out on behalf of us both. bills/food etc.0

An IVA will consider the equity in your house after the end of the 5 years
Also if you break the IVA in the 5 years, your creditors are more likely to push you down the bankruptcy route.
Looking at your situation
I would consider remorgaging. People say consoladation doesnt work. But I beleive it will be very good for you in the long run. It will enable a single payment as you dont seem to be able to manage multiple payments and dont know whats coming and going and you seem well paid enough to cover the slight increase in the morgage.
AND THEN CUT UP THE CREDIT CARDS
Also write to all your credit cards, tell them you are having financial difficulties and to stop all the interst on your cards.
Go for something like Payplan.0 -
another update -
had phone calls from both Capital One and MBNA chasing some payments. Both very polite no nastyness like the cow from Mercers the other day.
Anyway they were happy to take a debit card for a dated payment but i said i wasn't happy with that as ive entered an agreement with CCCS. I just had to give them my client number and their phone number and that was it. It surely can't be that easy can it??
One last question - i only recieved my DMP paperwork yesterday which i cant return until Monday, i hope that isn't a probelm if my creditors phone CCCS in between time??
Won a tenner on lottery too. Woohoo. Jackpot next week!!0 -

So glad the DMP is already helping you, debtman.
Put the cost of the lottery ticket(s) you bought in your spending diary. :shocked:Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MoneySavingExpert Forum Team0 -
So - i have just copied to statements and relevant info and posted it all off to CCCS. i have sent the letter to all creditors as well. I guess now i just have to sit and fob off any phone calls.

Had a really bad day yesterday. Tears, crying the lot. A grown man reduced to this. Im not working from home anymore either. It gives me far too much time to dwell on things.
Life sucks0 -
Just a thought, if you are being bombarded with phone calls, you have a legal right to ask for all contact to be made in writing, or to the CCCs now that you are working with them.
Id just like to say well done for being strong and although it took a little encouragement, you made that phone call and took action which is great.
Also, If you are in the car a lot, get some music on, that and driving should keep your mind occupied0 -
Hi, Debtman.
I've not been on this forum much for the last 6 weeks, but I've just been catching up with your situation.
You've come a long way and it's looking good. So glad you went with the dmp. There is a dmp supporters thread on this forum somewhere, if you ever feel like you need it. I have had virtually no problems with people phoning, and even those that were phoning stopped after the payments from cccs kicked in, but in the meantime use caller display and don't answer unrecognised numbers. Most have also stopped interest.
