Currys recommended helpline??
Comments

UK InfoTech appears to be primarily a website design business !!
They have a forwarding address at 22 Wenlock rd, London - but are based in (surprise, surprise) India
They, obviously do have workers in the UK - But these are hidden
The company is run by a GYALTSE YOLMO
Mr YOLMO has another failed company behind him (Techexperts247 of Camberley)
That is all that is known !0 -
So ...
I have just called these shysters and said " I was passed your number from a knowhow guy at Currys, i have a printer problem, can you help ?"
He said "yes sir im sure we can" .
I said " So before we continue, can i just be clear , are you part of the currys group or are you a seperate entity"
He said " We have a contract with Currys, when they cant fix things then they pass out our details"
At that point, i told him the call was being recorded (it wasnt) and asked him again to confirm that he said they have a contract with Currys.
He flapped about and backtracked saying that although we have no official contract, their employees send jobs to us"
I asked him if it was one particular branch or employee that they had this agreement with and he said it was the wider currys group".
I now intend to write to the CEO of Currys with the intention of getting them to cease and desist using currys name in this way.
I told "alex" to tell his manager that i am reporting them to trading standards
I want some 5h1t to hit the fan0 -
Had another call from Currys. They have checked all the cctv and can't see them writing anything down.
So we're going to get the cctv images now, that'll take some time but I'm interested.
They completely deny any affiliation with this lot, as they would.
They have offered to replace the item "as good will and no guilt admitted"
When I've reviewed the cctv I'll let you all know. . If anyone manages to find out more about this company I'd be happy to receive it. There's definitely something going on.. Whatever it is.0 -
Secondly, I've called the 'helpline' a couple of times and been very firm about not paying. I've removed all traces of their software. Up to now, they've said they won't phone again - we'll see.
We've not paid, luckily, so hopefully this is pretty much the end of it. Again - we'll see!
...............
What software did you find on your mother's PC??? My friends who this has happened to couldn't find anything as yet.... worrying, as they're not sure whether to wipe everything or not.
(Apologies, the first paragraph was meant to be PaulJM's quote but I have NO IDEA which reply buttons to click on!!!)0 -

So, I found an anti virus they'd put on.
However, I'm pretty sure these particular guys are more sharks than scammers, I don't think they were after being illegal, more maxing the possibility of what they can earn out of people.
If your friend got stung by someone who called up unsolicited, then that could be a different matter.0 -
This might be the sort of thing Which would be interested in taking up. I think you'd have to be a member to report it, but can become one very easily and cheaply.0

My Dad's been scammed by the scum at UK Infotech.co.uk too. His bill though was over £500. Unfortunately he paid it before he told me what had happened. They again claimed that his computer had a virus which, as it was new, hardly used and was running up-to-date Avast virus software is highly unlikely. My Dad naively thought that he was calling Hewlett Packard and when I called UK Infotech they told me that HP regularly refer customers to them. HP who I suspect may have a degree of in house expertise assure me that they never refer issues to third parties.
The problem which my elderly, pensioner, father, who is the full time carer for my ailing mother, called them UK Infotech was not fixed by these incompetent scammers either. Surprise!
So after a little research:
As referenced Galtze Yolmo is, according to Companies House, the only registered director and is an Indian national. The registered postcode of UK Infotech is the same as 71 thousand other companies and so is presumably a forwarding address. However the old address for his previous company was 10 York Place York Road Camberley Surrey GU15 4BS and this looks residential. There is also a Gyaltse Yolmo on face book who is based in Camberley and he was educated in India. If it is the same fellow then he must spend a lot of time in confessions asking for his sins to be absolved as he appears to be a good Catholic boy.
I wonder if the Hotmail address published in the school's Alumni is still active? gyaltse_yolmo@
Now, the contact email address for UK Infotech is on a different domain ukitl.co.uk so that must be part of his shabby realm too. I also suspect that smarttechlab.co.uk and Database Infotech Services are are also other conduits to these unpleasant con men. Database Infotech Services use the same Swindon address in the UK. There are no doubt many other fronts to this sorry business. They even have the audacity to publish 'Testimonials' on their website using the surnames Doe and Smith. Evidently the first language of Doe and Smith is not English so another sham.
Anyway I shall make it my business to be a thorn in the side of this bunch and see where it takes me. Any support and help would be appreciated.0 -

I sympathise with you. You're in a slightly different situation from me and my parents because they hadn't yet paid so I was able to rattle them enough for them to issue another bill to show nothing was owed.
Out of interest, how did your parents get their number?
This will sound a bold claim, but in my opinion, these guys are sharks, not scammers. I think they occupy a very thin line of decency and I think they want to protect their business. Which means that you're in a stronger position.
My tactic was to be calm yet very firm with them. I would call the guy directly, explain that ultimately he did not fix their printer, and you expect the money to be refunded, as you beleive the tests and time they spent were unnecessary and designed to incur high cost. Ask him how many printers can be fixed via the computer, and tell him printers cost £30. Ask him if he would recommend his parents spend that kind of money to fix a printer.
I'd also mention that in the course of getting advice about this, you'd uncovered a number of other people that had the same issues with their business, and two of them were in conversation with BBC watchdog and BBC "you and yours"
To enable you to be removed from that list you'd like a refund today.
They did actually get back to me within a couple of days, so it must rattle them.
Hope this helps slightly...0 -
Have a look at their website, the grammar is appalling!! :rotfl:0

Thanks PaulJM,
I may have slightly misled you as the issue was software related. The computer and printer were not communicating properly.
I have already been calm and assertive with them but they are now not returning my calls or responding to emails.
I have now sent them a letter by register post explaining my concerns and requirements. I also understand that as they did not provide a copy of their T&Cs to my dad in 'durable form' they are not complying with the Consumer Contract Regulations and are in breach of the Consumer Protection Regulations. This contravention at least means that the 'cooling off period' extends from 14 days to 12 months.
I'd have to check his phone records from the original date but none of the numbers I can see scribbled on his pad are for HP. I'll let you know if I find out anything else interesting. It was at least be of use to others end up in the same predicament.0
