    Morning!

Peaceful here. Kiddies away till later. Had a nice weekend but I seem to have been out a lot lately - ready to hibernate for a while now haha.

Today I am going to sort the DR. It's a bit of a dumping ground for KM exits and MIL took some toys yesterday, and said FIL will take some more today. They are going to the hospice sale this week and that's where all our donations go. Will also go to bottle bank with a number of glass coffee jars I was saving for some unknown reason...

Might finally get round to the massive box of colouring pens too! Gah!

Aww Dizzy hugs. Do you feel brave enough to ask him what's going on? Would he tell you anyway? After things came to a bit of a head here I am starting to understand that DH finds it really hard to talk about stuff which causes a lot of misunderstanding. Not that that is any excuse for your OH making you feel carp.

Pottering today. Not very motivated to do anything much at the moment.

WUDUPA done. Have decided I'm going to dye my hair this morning. The box of stuff has been in the cupboard for months while I dither about growing old gracefully or not. So it's NOT.

    Morning all

Been up since 7am, yet the rest of this week I've struggled to be up before 8am. Typical!!

We're having a cleaning day today. Hoping to have the house clean by 1pm so I can get on with other more enjoyable jobs :rotfl: WM is already on its second load, and I'm going to set DD to on the dishes which she was supposed to wash yesterday morning and didn't.

    Monday - Living Room Loveliness
    Level 1
    Empty any bins.
Give the cushions a good plumping.
Remove anything that doesn't live here.
With a damp cloth wipe remotes, lights switches and the bit just above and below the door handles, where sticky fingers leave residues.
    Level Two
Lift sofa cushions, swap around if you can and vacuum all those crevices
Dust everywhere - check for cobwebs!
    Level Three
Move all the furniture you can and vacuum
    Extras
How's the winter prep coming along? Are all your gloves, hats and scarves washed?
And school prep - label any uniform!

Tip Top Tuesday - bathroom bliss
    Level 1
Get a clean, damp cloth and wipe all the place fingers touch
Scrub the loo inside and out.
Finish with a slosh of bleach
    Level 2
    Clean the handbasin
Remove the plug and clean it thoroughly
Remove anything icky from the plughole
be a bleach baby and bleach that plughole!
    Level 3
    Clean baths and showers
    Mop the floor.
    Extras
Empty a cupboard in there. Throw out anything icky and wipe the shelves over before replacing all tidily.
Clean the window - wipe the frame before cleaning the glass.
Empty the bin - and wash it and leave it outside in the sun to dry!
Get a bucket of hot water - give the loo brush a good rinse and put it out in the sun to dry! Don't forget the holder! Damp, scummy brushes breed germs. If it's too awful to contemplate, wrap it and bin it and buy a new one from a cheap household store.

    Wiping Wednesday - Kitchen Kapers
    Level 1
    Empty the fridge
Wash the shelves etc in warm, soapy water
Wipe the fridge out - don't forget the door seals
    Replace the shelves and restock
    Level 2
    Remove everything from worktops
    wipe them down
put back only what should live there - wipe as you go!
    Wipe all small appliances
    Wipe sockets and switches
    Level 3
    Wipe down all cupboard fronts
Give the microwave a zing - stick a cup of hot water in, with a slice of lemon
zap for 2 minutes and leave the door shut for 5 - then remove the turntable and hoop and wash them and wipe out the microwave.
    Sweep/mop/vacuum the floor as appropriate
    Extras
Empty out the cutlery drawer and de-crumb it; wash the tray if you can.
If there's anything in there that you do not use be ruthless and fling it.
If it isn't cutlery it shouldn't be in there - so find it a proper home!
Window cleaning - WIPE THE FRAMES FIRST!
Yucky extra - does the cooker hood need cleaning? Change the filter

THURSDAY THRILLS THE ROOM OF DOOM

As you can imagine my GU AG has fluffed right off. Off to visit sis later, she is supposed to be being transferred to another hospital to have her lungs drained under anaesthetic and this is scheduled for tomorrow.
She has secondaries so the outlook is bleak.
I did manage to get some ironing and washing done yesterday but that was all.
I need to keep on top of things as much as possible, and I think I will have a word with my neighbours and give them a key so that they can feed the animals if I have to be away unexpectedly.
Your messages and support are appreciated more than you can know. Thank you x

Valli, thinking of you and yours. Your plan is a good one.

Hair dyed - much much darker than I expected and permanent so suppose I'll have to live with it for a while. Can still see a couple of greys too.

Valli - thinking of you and your family xx

Not much appears to be getting done on the surface but I've decluttered my desk and the surrounding area. juggled the food cupboard, the fridge, the freezer and the dog food so everything is now away a little more efficiently so no more things hanging around on tops of cupboards, on the wrong shelf or in the wrong drawers. I've also sat and sorted out poop bags as we double ours up as we sometimes use peoples wheelie bins to dispose when there's not public bins around. Double bagging means there's less chance of them bursting or stinking the bin out ;)

DD is tackling her bedroom with the polish. When I went up at 11 I could taste it in the air so I dread to think how bad it is now. I'm going to grab some lunch as I'm hungry then get on with actual cleaning.

Safe journey today Valli and more (((hugs))).

I've just made my first batch of microwave strawberry jam. Can't imagine why I haven't tried making it that way before, it's fab and superquick to do.

Kitchen tidied, just about to start on the dining room and sitting rooms before I get on with some more sewing - so technically, that's still the attic clearance happening.
    Better is good enough.

Half an hour spent in the gym, actually exercising, lovely bath and have just taken LittleyDog for a walk. Obviously not all done in last hour, it's this morning's list. Have also done a meal plan for the week and DH has done the shopping. Now about to get on with the gardening.

Honey, do you have a link for the microwave jam recipe please?

  • Hi all,

Yesterday I managed the dailies, and then finished painting our new bedroom ceiling, plus put the first coat on most of the walls. The house and garden is suffering from lack of attention now though. Stayed up way way too late watching the Olympics, and now I am pooped. Slept late, leisurely breakfast and bath, cleared the kitchen worktops (hard, as dds had made us breakfast with their little tea set. Crumpets and tiny cups of tea, and a lot of mess!) wm and dw on.
So now I'm going to try and do the level ones at least for every day, and the grass needs a chop. The girls have been banished to their bedroom to tidy. You can't even see the floor.

Valli, more hugs to you and yours.
