Valli in on supply for the Summer! Thank you, natty, for last week's thread.

It is your responsibility to read the forum rules, please follow them on this thread as Flylady has been here a LONG time and is a fabulous support and resource for lots of us.

Welcome to the Weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week or getting motivated when it comes to housework then come and join us.

The idea is that even if you are really busy you don't need to fall off the wagon!

Every room comes back around next week so please don’t stress about catching up

These lists are only suggestions and not a must do list; you are more than welcome to post and follow your own lists.

Also adding a declutter mission each day will help to gradually clear the clutter and make flying easier.

A few of the basics before we start the week

Hotspots are areas where if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc.

Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a bin bag and whiz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!
WM ~ Washing machine
TD ~ Tumble dryer
SC ~ Slowcooker
BM ~ Breadmaker
DW ~ Dishwasher
SOAADFA ~ Sit on 'bottom' and do 'nothing'
KH/XH/FW ~ Ex-husband and other not so polite versions
DH/DD/DS/DW/DP ~ Dear husband/daughter/son/wife/partner/whatever
OH/SO ~ Other half/significant other
NN ~ nice neighbour
Toxic (friend/mother/sister/whoever) ~ person in your life that seems to exist to make your life miserable
AF ~ Aunt Flo 'time of the month'.. nothing to do with flying but it comes up often.
ETA ~ Edited to add
gibble ~ miscellaneous crap that appears forever homeless
Dot-to-dot ~ pick a small area (not a whole room) like a chair/coffee/table/shelf/worktop or wherever- thats your first 'dot' - totally clear it - clean it - and only put back what should be there - deal with what you have removed (not just move it somewhere else) then if you have time move on and do the same to another 'dot' -the idea is just like a dot to dot puzzle, you aim to join up all the dots and have a tidy room. The trick is to keep each dot tidy until you get them all joined up!
RoD ~ Room of Doom, the one room that feels like it is a permanent pit and cannot be used to its potential!
Mr S/A/T/M/L/Al - supermarkets Sainsburys, Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Lidl, Aldi. You get the picture!!

here goes this week!

Monday - Living Room Loveliness

Level 1

Open the windows!
Empty any bins.
Sort through the magazine rack - and fling.
Give the cushions a good plumping.
Remove anything that doesn't live here.
With a damp cloth wipe remotes, lights switches and the bit just above and below the door handles, where sticky fingers leave residues.

Level Two
Lift sofa cushions, swap around if you can and vacuum all those crevices
Dust everywhere - check for cobwebs!

Level Three
Move all the furniture you can and vacuum

Chillies - - your home will be lovely if you help too!
Make your own bed.
Remove anything icky from your rooms and bin it.
Lift everything off the floor and vacuum it.
Put your clean clothes away tidily and your dirty clothes in the laundry.

Extras

Sort out your herbs and spices - fling OOD stuff!
How's the winter prep coming along? Are all your gloves, hats and scarves washed?
And school prep - label any uniform!

Tip Top Tuesday - bathroom bliss

Level 1

Remove all towels/cloths etc and pop them into the wash - make it a HOT wash and give your machine a clean at the same time!
Get a clean, damp cloth and wipe all the place fingers touch
Scrub the loo inside and out.
Finish with a slosh of bleach
Polish the towel rail.

Level 2
Clean the handbasin(s)
Remove the plug and clean it thoroughly
Remove anything icky from the plughole
be a bleach baby and bleach that plughole!

Level 3
Clean baths and showers
Wash any shower curtains
Clean any shower screens - I use detergent in hot water to wipe off the scum and then finish with windowcleaner for a sparkle
If you use a wiper give the rubber blade a good wipe over
Mop the floor.

Extras
Empty a cupboard in there. Throw out anything icky and wipe the shelves over before replacing all tidily.

Top up the loo roll store.

Clean the window - wipe the frame before cleaning the glass.

Vacuum the dust out of the extractor fan cover - if you have one!

Empty the bin - and wash it and leave it outside in the sun to dry!

Get a bucket of hot water - give the loo brush a good rinse and put it out in the sun to dry! Don't forget the holder! Damp, scummy brushes breed germs. If it's too awful to contemplate, wrap it and bin it and buy a new one from a cheap household store.

Chillies - time to tidy out the toybox!
Your helping mum task today is sockpairing...find 'em, pair 'em and put 'em away.

Wiping Wednesday - Kitchen Kapers

Level 1
Empty the fridge - deal with anything that needs sorting/throwing/using up
Wash the shelves etc in warm, soapy water
Wipe the fridge out - don't forget the door seals
Replace the shelves and restock

Level 2
Remove everything from worktops
wipe them down
put back only what should live there - wipe as you go!
Wipe all small appliances
Wipe sockets and switches

Level 3
Wipe down all cupboard fronts
Give the microwave a zing - stick a cup of hot water in, with a slice of lemon or a few drops (I keep lemon slices in the freezer ready for my G&T;)) -
zap for 2 minutes and leave the door shut for 5 - then remove the turntable and hoop and wash them and wipe out the microwave.
Sweep/mop/vacuum the floor as appropriate

Extras PICK AT LEAST 1
Empty out the cutlery drawer and de-crumb it; wash the tray if you can.
If there's anything in there that you do not use be ruthless and fling it.
If it isn't cutlery it shouldn't be in there - so find it a proper home!

What about winter coats? While you're not wearing them check whether they need washing/dry cleaning and get them ready for winter!

Window cleaning - WIPE THE FRAMES FIRST!

Yucky extra - does the cooker hood need cleaning? Change/wash the filter -soak in hot water with household soda with a couple of dishwasher tablets thrown in for good luck. DO NOT PUT BARE HANDS INTO THE MIXTURE - IT'S A DEGREASER (the same mixture is also good for cleaning Lego bricks)

Kiddie Kapers
Pencil cases - they need emptying. Sharpen pencils and crayons ready for September; check all your pens work and throw out the broken/manky ones!
You DO NOT NEED 400 PENCILS CHILLIES! And do the sharpening outside, over a b-i-g bucket!
If you've got a summer task to do (such as a holiday diary) make a start if you haven't done so!

THURSDAY THRILLS THE ROOM OF DOOM

Pick - a neglected room, a porch, a conservatory, utility room, study, office, your bedroom (because you deserve a haven)

Level one
OPEN A WINDOW
clean the windows and paintwork/doors as appropriate
bucket of hot water and detergent and wipe clean
clean any windows
vacuum any electricals

Level two
vacuum any uphostery
clear the floor
clean the floor - vacuum/mop as appropriate

Level three
BE RUTHLESS
clean surfaces, (shelves and ledges)dust them and put back only what you want there
vacuum any curtains and blinds or wipe and wash

post what you cleaned! it encourages others and you'll feel good!

Extras - got a PC tower? Open it up and vacuum the heat sink and the tower
(use an air duster if you have one - air dusters are FANTASTIC for dusting light fittings by the way and Wilk0s sell them cheaply.)

Toots list - how are we doing? - success stories please, because we're all here to cheer each other on!

HHI and don't forget the dailies!

Chillies
choose a drawer or shelf and sort it out, throw anything icky, wipe it out (just damp cloth, not soaking) let it dry and put stuff back!
Your help-the-family challenge is to go all stateside and tote the garbage
(empty the bins lol)

Thank you to everybody who has written and contributed to the thread over time. I'm a long time lurker but haven't posted for years - I struggle to keep pace!

However, in recent months I haven't been as diligent in applying the list as I should be and it is beginning to show. Therefore I am jumping in with both feet this week to motivate myself to get back on top of the chaos. I'm aiming for level 3 tomorrow plus decluttering one set of drawers and conquering the ironing mountain. Ambitious but achievable. I will report back tomorrow with my progress to ensure I don't fall off the wagon... again...

    Welcome home play2day :)

Been out most of day - had lovely time. Day at home (much needed) tomorrow with friends we haven't seen for ages coming in the afternoon. So we're flying in the morning - hoping this wind settles, it's rather wild here!

Thanks for the lists ladies - I'm in as best as I can be. DH is having a mini-crisis about life and I have to be the perfect wife, mother and housekeeper to keep his stress levels down. Out comes the miracle wand again ;)

Not a great day today as DH caught my thumb in the ladder we use to pick fruit from the highest branches because he wouldn't listen to where it needed to go. Despite my screaming (and screaming ) he insisted on trying to twist the ladder to free me  I fainted, but don't think my thumb is broken, just bruised. He then decided to trip up in his stupid flip-flops whilst holding Tiny and smash his face into the wooden staircase. Not only is he an idiot for trying to navigate uneven floors, ceiling acro-props and scaffolding boards in his poxy sandals, he just stood there holding Tiny, while blood was pouring out of his mouth, looking like a complete dork. !!!!!! !! I've told him we need a serious chat as I am getting so hacked off with him.

Rant over. Thanks for listening x
