I like the tomato cous cous. Couldn't eat loads of it but it's nice with a salad.0

Re Nigella, my DH feels that this woman has revealed latent aspects of his character:rotfl: :rotfl: he falls into her target audience(middle aged, middle class) and yet would rather render himself insensible by repeatedly smashing himself in the face with a (high quality) frying pan than gaze upon her porcine overly-made-up face as she mauls innocent vegetables in a supposedly suggestive manner. He assumes this is not the intended response:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: (I have typed this as he dictated every word!)Blind as you run...aware you were staring at the sun.
And when no hope was left inside on that starry starry night.

Ah, in which case he needs to refer to saint Delia, for one of her "little gems". I believe he is looking for the omlette pan.0 -
Me too with the homemade hoummus.
With regard to Nigella it seems to me that she is just really uncomfortable in front of the camera, she never looks at it and she fidgets a lot. I think it just comes across as being flirty.
she wants to go to bed with most of her ingredients. And her finger licking is so cheesy. That impressionist woman got her perfectly.0 -
Are disasters that aren't the fault of the recipe allowed? I spent ages on a goulash once. Real veal. Slow simmering. And then I put the salt in. Only it wasn't salt. It was washing up liquid ... And then there was 'gin and lime posset'. Served as a pudding at my first ever dinner party. Let's just say that there was a lot of gin and no cooking. Perhaps it was the boring guests but I was asleep in my bedroom long before they left ...Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000

SO glad I started this thread...it's hilarious!! :rotfl:
On another note, I know I must be the only person in the English-speaking world to say this but I do not trust Delia recipes
She is responsible for every failed sponge cake and every failed Shrove Tuesday party pancakes. Since then and a few other mishaps I don't use her recipes anymore."Finish each day And be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and Absurdities have crept in.
Forget them as soon as you can."

.... oh and the spectacular veggie xmas centrepeice from last year. It was in a rose elliot book and involved parboiling leeks and then draping individual leaves around a ring bowl thingy, mixing the rest of leeks with eggs, stilton and cream and then baking in a bain marie for 30 minutes before turning out to the gasps of confirmed carnivores no longer disapointed at the lack of turkey - reality - three bl**dy hours later I gave up and grilled it and it was rechristened xmas gloop and even veggie dd begged me to do turkey this year and let her have just roast veggiesI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080
