You're all adventurous, I can't even make a Mars bar cake! I was told to melt mars bars and butter on low in the micro ... well I tried but I was impatient and it wasn't melting so I turned it up high and it all boiled up and looked like lava which then set as hard as rock in my favourite pyrex bowl and nothing i could do would get it out it was welded on!
I'll leave that to the experts from now on.Just call me Nodwah the thread killer0 -
Cornish fairings...can't seem to make them at all, they either cook too much, don't cook enough, or otherwise fail miserably. I've tried so many different recipes that I think I'll just have to admit defeat!
Oh yes, I had a similar problem with the fruit bread from the River Cottage Family Cookbook - it was gooey in the middle, but quite browned on the outside so we didn't realise until it was sliced.

Delia's Choc and mascarpone cheesecake from the Winter collection - only bad Delia recipe I've found - but we did it for a dinner party and noone really ate much and then I took it into the staffroom the next day and still noone ate it - and in a staffroom that's saying something.
Worst ever cooking disaster was using Blue Bols instaed of Cointreau in a recipe for a dinner party - the chicken turned a blue/ green colour and I had to serve it as there wasn't anything else!!!!“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Although I LOVED the TV show, the 2 Fat Ladies cookbook steered me wrong for 2 things I tried from it. One was a cake with honey for my mum's birthday. It failed to rise and I had to buy her some baklava instead!0

Drop scones. Just can't get them right and they are more like slop scones.
Also my Moussaka ended up as Moussloppa as the top never set properly!!working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Usually I don't have completely inedible results, but I tried the recipe for a beetroot flavoured bread in Ursula Ferrigno's Bread book, and it was just terrible. The grated beetroot flecked through the dough meant it looked more like cherry bakewell than bread! Everything else I've done from the book has worked out well though, touch wood!2015 comp wins - £370.25

I'm SO :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:!!!!
I tried making Nigella Lawson's Fried Calamari which not only was horribly expensive (£7 on the calamari for 2 people ) but it didn't work. The cornflour/semolina mix came off the calamari in the oil.
I even went to the trouble of making up some Old Bay Spice.
What a waste!
I think I'm no longer a fan of Nigella having made her Mustard Pork Chops and getting a just-about-edible result.
So what are your 'not-to-be-repeated' recipes?
I think you must have missed several parts vital to Nigella's recipe:
1) were you wearing full make up before starting frying?
2)did you get a black cab to and from Waitrose, despite it being about 2 mins walk from your house?
3)for another ingredient, did you catch a routemaster bus, and since these are no longer in service, did you hire one as your own personal bus?
4) did you spend 3 mins pouting and simpering, before throwing calamari into "only available in America" spices, and then frying them in butter, lard and olive oil?
5) did you get undresses, return in a skimpy satin nightie, and eat your foul concoction in bed?
(sorry, I know that was the croissant and whiskey bread and butter pudding, but what was she thinking?)0
